Hello all I am wondering what you all do, if anything, to make extra money.
I do a few craft fairs a year and sell clothes at my local consignment shop but I am looking for a few more ideas.
Thanks!!

Do you have a "New Uses" store/chain near you? They resell home items (not clothes, toys etc). You bring the item in and you receive payment then, it si not consignment. I took some items over last week, wall pictures, some un-opened Bath and Body works wall flower units, shelves, unburned candles, a vase, a boom box from the early 90's, some decorative accents and walked out with $43.50,,not amazing but not bad. Better than if I had gone the garage sale route. You will get paid 1/3 of what the store will list it for, so you get $2 for something they will tag at $6. They take tools, exercise equipment, furniture, luggage, all kinds of things.

I have an Etsy shop selling crocheted items that paid for Christmas. I also make money blogging, not much, but a few sponsored posts can earn me a few hundred dollars.

I have never seen this store? Where are you from?

Etsy....it reminds me if eBay. Do they take a big percentage?

Etsy is very reasonable IMHO.... listing fee is twenty cents an item( and you have 3 months I think to list) and transaction fee is 3.5% of the items price, not including shipping or anything.

Donate plasma. Two visits a week = 60 dollars tax free. You go every week that is over $3,000 a year tax free!!! If you and your spouse do it together $6,000 a year tax free.

You can read a book, or even watch tv while donating. You get paid to donate something that can help lots of people.

Just a thought.

That's a good idea actually. I've considered doing this in the past, but thoughts of standing in line with junkies quickly changed my mind. Surely though there has to be places (or at least certain times of day) where homeless people aren't lined up trying to donate. That's really the only thing that has ever stopped me.

I'm not desperate for money or anything, but as a nurse I know how valuable donating blood/plasma can be! Plus, I could take that money and add it to the Disney fund! I think I'll check into this next week and see how realistic it is that I could get in and out fairly quickly without being among junkies. If my husband and I went together, that could pay for our entire vacation! After doing a google search, I also saw that some places will pay $50 if you've had the Hep B vaccine which I do have! Thanks for the idea.

I do focus groups to earn extra cash. I just did one Friday. I was paid $125 for 1.5 hours to give my opinion about cruises. Plaza Research is the one I used and they are all ver the US. You can also check out True Panel. Theirs Re done with uploading videos about various things. They all seem to pay pretty well for a minimal amount of work. You can also check Craig's list for them as well.

No, I think it's 3.5%? May be less. It isn't enough to make me not want to do business with them, and the Etsy exposure is worth the fee.

I'm a high school math teacher. I either tutor or do freelance writing.

As a nurse, you have a pretty specific educational background-- have you considered looking at freelance writing? You can google "freelance nurse writing"

Take a look here for ideas: http://differenttypesofnursing.com/nurse-writer-jobs/

or here: http://nursece4less.com/Authors.aspx

I'm not the OP, but I think you were replying to me since I didn't notice the OP say she's a nurse. :)

I haven't really been looking for a way to make more money (although who couldn't use some extra)!

The poster's comment about plasma just triggered something I had considered anyway.

I'm actually a teacher too! Not teaching at the moment obviously, but still licensed. What kind of writing do you do as a teacher? I had checked into a website one time (i think it was pearson) about grading tests, but never heard anything back from them. I did it online. Did you ever do that?

Mystery shopping is another option for scoring free food and a few free items here and there, along with a little cash.

I did it a couple of times a long time ago. I think I'll check into that again myself!

When I did it, it wasn't a lot of money and not really enough to even be worth it, but I live in a small town. I would have to make a special trip just to go "mystery shop" at one store. If I could've lined up 3-4 trips in one day then it would've been worth it, and I'm sure in larger cities there are opportunities to do that.

I do the surveys, MyPoints, Viggle, and such. I also coupon quite a bit. My husband and his cousin do quite a bit of scrapping. Between the two of us, we pay for park tickets every other year.

I was wondering those of you who do surveys which ones do you use that you know for sure aren't scams?

I do my surveys on quickrewerds.net through them. Right now I am watching videos to make money.

May sites that make money is:
gifthulk I just do videos
swagbucks video more videos/games
can'tbeatfree - videos
zoombucks - videos/games
irazoo - videos/games
mtruk - I just take surveys

I am about start a couple more. Also I have summer job too.
