I'm not sure where to post this.

I am walking a breast cancer walk.

I am not walking for myself...but for a lot of other people that have been affected by this disease.

I want to create something that I can carry with all the names of family and friends that have suffered from breast cancer.

I really don't want to grab a sharpie and put names on ribbon...I wanted something a little nicer.

Any sugggestions?

(anyone ever try putting ribbon through a printer? :rolleyes1 )

I've tried googling...but most custom printed ribbon sites only allow 45 characters max...and I have a lot more names than that.

Thanks.

You can buy ribbon that will allow you to stamp on it- then buy ink- I would suggest pigemtn ink as it doesn't come off with water (so you are safe if it rains) and a small alphabet set of stamps and then stamp the names on yourself.

You can also run some of this ribbon through a computer printer- so you would be able to do that- it can be a tedious process as you need to print first on a sheet of paper and then put the ribbon ovewr where the printing is (using a repositionable adhesive) and then reprint the same page with the ribbon in place and continue doing that until you finish (you can't do this with one continuous piece of ribbon- it would have to be cut into strips no longer than the paper.

If I do it as a banner I could probably run it continuously run it through the printer. I mean if I can run banner paper...why not ribbon?

I never thought of stamping it. that's a great idea...might be easier than trying the printer in the long run.

Thanks for the suggestions. :)

I think fiskas makes something for this. Maybe.

How about initials so that each ribbon has all the names? (And how sad there's too many for custom ribbon:sad1:)

Unfortunately....I have just begun collecting the names yesterday, and I have 40+ already. :sad1:

I got the supplies to do the stamping...and I did a test ribbon...it looks great.

I know this will take me a few weeks to get done... but it will be worth it.

Awesome- glad it is working out!

Rebecca

It is...I'll have to take a picture. It's actually turning out nicer that I first expected. Thank you so much for the suggestion. :thumbsup2

I have no idea why I didn't think about stamps....I just imagined me trying to write all those names with a sharpie...and getting annoyed cause I made one letter too small. :rotfl:
