Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make a mickey head with the rope lights?? I'm one of those that need directions...not an out of the box thinker...lol! :rotfl:

I made mine with PEX tubing, but I already had a PEX crimper ($100) so this method may not make sense for you. Three fittings and two pipe clamps and a little white electrical tape made for a nice kit, though!

It also helps if you have something like clothes hangers to help support the rope lights and you can shape them however you like. Big pipe cleaner tie things (my husband loves my desciptions) also help to hold its shape. One of the keys is not to make it too big as it will just fall apart.

one year we used green Christmas wreaths, two smaller and one bigger and wrapped the rope lights around them. It was a pretty cool effect.

Boy, I CANNOT WAIT until Christmas at the Fort!!:yay:

Last year we bought 3 prelit wreaths on clearance at WalMart - 2 small, 1 large - and wire tied them together.

Instant Mickey wreath!

BradyBz12, That Mickey head wreath idea is GENIUS! Thanks for sharing!!

Best part is that it was E-A-S-Y! And I just cut the wire ties to take them apart and pack them. :thumbsup2

I also was wondering if anyone had step by step directions. My mom and I are going to try and tackle the task of making the Mickey Head with Rope lights and the Mickey Lamp post without the help of our hubbys. Thanks for any info that you all send our way!:tinker:

Genius I say, PURE GENIUS!! That would look great on the windshield of my MH!

Speaking of Mickey head lights, one of the most magical things I remember about visiting the Fort for the first time with my kids a few years ago was the giant Mickey head the Howards would put up in the tree at the entrance to the 300 loop. What an amazing and magical sight that was when coming back to the campsite at night. I really miss that.

Me too - it was like the beacon showing you the way home at night. Have to say that Christmas at the Fort really isn't quite the same without them. :sad1:

How early do people decorate campsites for Christmas? We are going Nov. 14th. Will we see any decorations?
