:cool2:I am looking for ideas on how to make a cute Pin Trading Book for my DD. I own one that we ordered on line but was hoping to not spend as much.

I would love to how you made one or any suggestions you may have...If you have any pictures you want to share that would be AWESOME !!!

We've done two different versions... one is to use an old CD book. You know the ones that can hold about 20 cds? They are usually pretty plain (black) so you could decorate it with paint pens.
Are other version is to use foam sheets. They kind they sell in a craft store. We just cut a sheet to a size we want to carry (like in a pencil holder case). It doesn't hold as many as the cd case, but it's lighter to carry around. I suppose you could put a few pages into a binder of some sort to make it more of a book.

I made one for my DS that I ended up being really proud of. I found a black & red zipper binder on sale, and put some fabric Mickey head and Disney decals on the outside. On the inside, I used sheets of black plastic cross stitch canvas and cut it to fit. The plastic canvas works *so* perfectly for pins. For protection between the pin sheets, I used black sparkly felt. And since the binder came with a zippered pencil case attached to the rings on grommets, he uses that for spare pin backs and duplicate trader pins.

Here's the outside:

And here's the plastic canvas and the sparkly protector sheets:

Thanks!! Believe me, I am sooooo not crafty.. but all this honestly took was some scissors and a 3-hole punch. Crazy easy!! ::yes::

I love your binder! Do you mind if I use your idea for my DH and DS? Right now we just have a basic 3 ring 3 in binder. Not as cute as this and it doesn't sip up.

Heck no, go right ahead!! I'm sure I saw the idea somewhere at some point, and just filed it away subconsciously, lol. :goodvibes

The plastic canvas and felt and even the binders come in so many different colors, I bet you could make a pin binder along any Disney theme. I'm thinking about making myself a pink Minnie one! ::MinnieMo

Gina: Thank you for sharing your design. I love your pin book and would like to try and duplicate it for my boys. I'm not at all crafty so I'm not familiar with "plastic cross stitch canvas." Do I look for it at a fabric store like Joann's or a craft store like Michael's? And where can I buy the Disney decals that you used? Did you use a hot glue gun to glue it onto the outside of the binder? Any additional tips would be appreciated.

Anyone else able to answer my question re decals? I tried searching online but there are tons for walls; and I'm not sure what type I should look for.

So sorry, I didn't see your message at all! Stuff flies by so quickly on this board... :thumbsup2

I got everything but the binder itself at Michael's. In whatever craft store you go to, if you look in the section where needlework stuff is (crosstitch, embroidery, etc) that is where you'll find the plastic canvas. If it's a big place like Michael's or Hobby Lobby, they should have the canvas in a rainbow of colors. Then you would just cut it to fit the binder you choose.

The decals are fabric with a peel-off adhesive backing, and they stick really well. Once on, they look like they were embroidered right onto the surface! I found those in the section where they have all sorts of stickers and decals and other decorations for scrapbooking.

The sparkle felt was in a section with miscellaneous stuff... you might have to just ask someone there.

Any other questions, please just ask! It really is easy beyond belief to put together... All you really need is a sharp pair of scissors! :goodvibes

Gina I love yours and I am definitely making my own but since last time I went to Disneyland I didn't want to spend a lot of money I just made one that only cost me 4 dollars.
How I made it: I bought these foam and fabric tablet cases from the dollar store and cut those to fit in a mini white binder than I cut a piece of paper to fit in the cover and decorated it with pin trading rules and pictures of pins drawn by myself and a friend...:earboy2::dumbo:
