If you stay in a tent are your belongings safe? For those bringing an air conditioner have they ever been stolen? Or even stuff like your big coolers or camping gear. Has anyone had someone go in their tent and take stuff?

Hi Chloe!
I've tent camped at the Fort and didn't have any issues. Didn't have an AC. Having said that, I kept my most valuable possessions locked in the car when I went to the parks. Keep my cooler, chair, stove inside the tent while gone and they were fine. That was several years ago, but when I was at the Fort in June I noticed lots of people leaving their stuff outside of their tents and RVs without any problems. Not saying that things don't grow legs and wander off but that seems to be the exception rather than the rule.
have fun!

my trip was in Oct so was not quite as hot as summer and I had a shady site in the 400 loop but I left my tiny TV set in the car with no damage.

We put our DD' s laptop in a cooler in the car and it was fine. Just make sure it doesn't get wet! :)

Any suggestions for electronics? I'm afraid they will get too hot in a car.

1) Put SMALL electronics and money/ID/etc into the Front Desk safety deposit boxes.
2) Boxes are too small for most laptops (*), but small stuff works well.

* Or, get Wayne Szalinski to reduce their size.

Never leave electronics in your tent or car unless it is protected from extreme heat as a pp suggested.

Most people are away from their campsites during the day so there is ample opportunity (and mostly privacy) for thieves to 'work'. It may not happen often, but it does happen - better to be cautious and leave no personal valuables.

Even at that, chairs and bicycles have 'walked' away!

On another note, have noticed bicycles not locked at boat dock :scared:
A 'very' easy opportunity for a 'less than honorable person' to get back to their campsite!!

We would be driving to the parks, but I like the idea of putting them in a cooler in the car. That way no one would notice them and break into the car, as well as keeping them cool.

Electronics such as a laptop are fine to leave in a car, especially out of direct sun. Normal use of a laptop will put the internal temperature between 120 - 160 degrees. Heavy use can put it up to 185(any higher and the system will need to be shut down until it cools). Most laptops will throttle their speed when reaching high temps until they cool down. May law enforcement agencies(including the one I do IT work for) have officers that leave their laptops in the cars when not in use. Those starting on 2nd shift have to deal with slow laptops, but they are in mounts that get full sun part of the day. This causes no damage to them. Leaving an electronic device powered off and on a floorboard should be no problem. Heck, a smart phone streaming a movie on netflix will rapidly approach the temperature of sitting in a car powered off.

I'm sorry, but I have to ask why? Just my opinion, but part of the fort and Disney experience is to partake in everything Disney.

We so much enjoy the boat to MK, Monorail from MK to Epcot and the bus system. There is so much to see that you miss driving to the parks.

Although we "camp" in our RV, I have often wondered about the security of our "stuff".

I guess my thoughts and hope is that all the money that has been spent by everyone just to visit, that we do not have to worry about theft. Not saying it won't happen, but I feel that I can trust my Fort neighbors.
