Let me preface this by saying I recently got highlights, but I really want to dye my hair a honey colored blonde.

My hair is naturally thick, very thick, and very curly. I used to love my curls, but the longer my hair gets the less apealing the curls look. So I have been straightening my hair about every other day for three weeks now.

I use a blow dryer, but no brush just my fingers, to get it dry. Then I use my Chi straightener, with Frizz-ease serum. This works OK...but not great.

My hair is coming out stick straight, but still the blonde pieces are looking a bit fried. I am scared if I have my hair dyed my whole head will look fried!

I hate that slick, no body, hair look. I like having thick hair, I would just like it to be a little more managable...any suggestions??

well, you could get it thinned. there are also some conditioners that help, all you have to do is read the labels. ive never really had that sort of issue, so thats the most help i can give you. sorry i couldnt do more ;)

I do get it thined every time I get it cut, which is like every 6 weeks. haha

It takes a while, but blow drying with a proper brush designed for blow drying (the name has left my mind ARGH) really helps me and I have thick hair. Also low settings when drying takes longer, but generally gives better results, depends on the hair type.

Also ask your hairdresser for tips, if I ever have problems with my hair I usually go straight to them! :)

Turn the heat setting down. You could be using it a lot hotter than need be.
Put some of the serum? cream? Yeah I don't know exactly what to call it, but it's like a cream that protects you hair from the heat. Put it in your hair before you blow dry it.

I usually put the serum on before using the straightening iron, I could try before blow drying too....and maybe using the lower setting.

Oh my goodness, don't straighten curly hair! I learned the hard way.
I tried every cream, moisturizer and water quenching thing out there! It won't help, it just ruins your hair

I really suggest that you use a Biolage conditioner and let it sit in your hair for 5 minutes when you're in the shower. Dye completely ruins your hair if you do it often. Often or not, it still needs all moisture it can get!

I know it damages my hair, but so many girls straighten their hair...there must be a less damaging way.

Plus it isnt curly like it used to be, because I am growing it longer it is just wavy...which is quite ugly.

Like putting the stuff on before straightening.. usually it makes a like burning sound on your hair, that sounds awful. It might be the thing protecting your hair, or it could be damaging it. I don't actually know, but it could be.

The girls you see that straighten their hair either have slightly wavy hair or naturally straight hair so of course it looks good.

Try using some curl activating cream. I use the purple bottle of herbal essence mousse and biolage curling stuff. It works really well

Then I flip my hair and dry it with a diffuser; and when the diffuser doesn't want to stay on anymore I use the low heat setting, and low setting on my blow dryer.

It does sometimes make that burning sound, I try to let it sit in my hair a while (like when I am doing my make-up or changing) then straighten it. That lessens the burning. Plus my new Chi straightening iron has severly lessened that burning sound.

I just feel like I am doing everything right, using every tip Ive ever been given, and my hair is still hard to manage.

Do you put this stuff in when your hair is still wet?

The package says to put it in towel dried hair or dry hair. Honestly I usually forget when it is still wet and put in on inbetween blow drying and straightening.
