How to keep down from "shedding"?

In the past I have had various down jackets and vests, but they always end up losing their down. I get decent quality, but by the end of the season, I feel like I'm trailing a Marabou feather boa or wrestling Big Bird! :rotfl:
I have read that I can spray them with Static Guard, but I am reluctant to jump in. Has anyone heard of this or other techniques to keep down from migrating? Any sucess with these?

TIA--

My DD has a black down jacket and the best I can do is use a roller to pull out the strays.

I don't have an answer. I used to put up with that years ago, when I had this really warm down coat. My solution was to put a worn out sweater in between the coat and what I was wearing. That way, the feathers were just on that sweater that I took off.

Sorry, I've never had that problem. DD has worn down coats for years. When they start to shed, after a few years, it's time for a new coat anyway.

i would go with a higher quality jacket. Northface has down jackets that will last you for many years but they are an investment.

i'd say EB is probably pretty good but I'd try TNF next... their stuff is made for heavy winter duty. i've been really happy. i have friends who have had TNF gear for a long time and it still looks brand new. its still really light too - i think you'd like it.
