I know they say since it's so hot to make sure to keep baby hydrated. DD will be 4 months when we go to WDW, so she doesn't get anything but her formula. Are her normal 3 hour feedings enough to keep her hydrated? This is probably a stupid question, but I'm seriously not sure. :confused3

I would keep a bottle of water just in case to give her a sip every now and again. Our ds will be 9 months when we go so I am just going to make sure to try and make plenty of air conditioning breaks!

Ask your peds. They will give you the right answer for your child. :goodvibes

Very important question. You have a right to be concerned -the Florida heat and humidity can be brutal -I would ask your baby's doctor. Babies can get real hot sitting/laying in a stroller. This is a very important question and needs medical advice. Good question Mom - good for you looking out for the needs of your baby!

I am taking a bottle of pedialiyte (sp) with us. If it is good at hydrating them when they are sick it should help in this situation as well. Instead of a bottle of juice I will offer this.

Don't ever give a baby water, it will throw off their electrolytes and cause seizures. We see kids in our ER with this every now and then. (I'm an OB/peds nurse, so the kids get transferred up to my unit.) Pedialyte would be fine because it contains the necessary electrolytes. Ask your pediatrician what he/she recommends as far as how much and how often when your just trying to prevent dehydration as opposed to treating someone who is already dehydrated.

my ped told me it is ok to give a baby under 6 months up to 4-6 ounces of water a day if it hot out ( my daughter was born mid june and we went to my grandparents beach house that July). I just made sure it wasnt really cold, more room temp. and she just got a sip here and there..

We used to give our ds 1 ounce water mixed with 1 ounce juice per our doctor.

We keep pedialyte on hand in case he's sick. He doesn't seem to like it very well. Someone told me it tastes a little salty. You might try getting the popcicle kind and not freezing them, just chill. Then at least you'd have 4 flavors to try. Just open one up and put it in a bottle. There's 2 ounces in each popcicle.

thats what I do. I freeze a few and keep a few liquid in case I need them because the bottles are only good for 48 hours and my daughter nevers drinks that much of it, she says they are yucky

I would also suggest asking your pediatrician (sp?). A washcloth soaked in cool water helps as well. Placing it on the belly and on the wrists is a great way to keep cool.
