How to keep adults excited about a cruise?

DH, his parents and I decided to concentrate our gifts for 2015 and 2016 into a beautiful project which is my in-laws's first trip to WDW and first Disney Cruise (1 day at MK, 1 night in a WDW hotel and a 3 nights cruise in the Bahamas on board the Disney Wonder).

Therefore, we decided that every birthday and Christmas, our "gifts" would be deposit money being put on the trip which is, until the trip, a bit of an invisible gift!

I am looking for a way to remind them, at each birthdays and Christmas, that we are "building" a wonderful trip.

Ex: building a little album with pictures of the Wonder, Castaway Cay, Atlantis... Lanyards to put their Key to the world. (We live in Canada, so we don't receive our Magic Bands at home!)

I'm looking for exciting affordable ideas in order to keep my in-laws (65 years old) excited about the trip.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Mevelandry.

I would order the free WDW and DCL , DVD's. make a family evening of sitting and watching them.

Also if they don't know of table service dinner/dinners a WDW, give them the reservations for what ever restaurant your planning to have dinner at, with some details and photos of the theming.

You could also do this with dinner at Palos and the excursion on the ship.

If you folks are into dress up on the Wonder, Pirate customers can be fun.

What ever you do, have a great trip!

OMG! I did not think about the DVD. They don't have a DVR at home but we can certainly watch it at home with them! Thanks a lot! What a good idea! :)

Pirates costumes... I could definitely do something with that!

Thanks!

Not sure if they are the type to wear them, but Disney ears or shirts.

Disney Picture Frames to be filled when you get back home.

Magnets for the door. (I meant to make some for our connecting door between our stateroom to surprise my sister with, but I forgot.)

You could even start a travel bag of items that they might not realize they will need on such a trip.

I'm not into making more work for myself. And I'm not sure why they need to be excited or kept thinking about it if they aren't already?

Depending on personalities, it might simply annoy them.

And it sounds like work. :)

Hope they enjoy it. We sent MIL and her friend on an Alaska cruise and the friend never thanked us and MIL didn't have a good time. Sigh.

They are super excited (they haven't been part of a trip in 40 years)...

I don't see why they would be annoyed by that (?!?!?) and I don't see organizing a little gift (in relation to the trip) twice a year as "work" either.

I thought about shirts... But my DH is reluctant to the idea of wearing it. :guilty:

Is he thinking matching shirts or just Disney in general? I am not big on wearing matching shirts, but sometimes find a theme across them better. It could be something not so blatantly Disney. Maybe something he would normally wear styled so that it could be considered Disney bounding.

I'll have to try very hard to find something that he'll be willing to wear...

This is such a thoughtful gesture! I'd say a card with Mickey and 'can't wait to see you' would do the trick.
