How to heat a bottle or baby food in room?

What I used to do if I knew I was going to be out and about all day, was fill a bottle with hot water, and pack it, by the time they were ready for a bottle it had cooled, but I think your best bet is to buy a bottle warmer if you know they need warm water. My kids all just used tap water so I filled it at the temp they wanted it at, and by 8 months, bottle was down to only about 2 or 3 times a day, the rest was sippy cup and table food, so depending on your childs schedule (which only you know what works best for them) if you can keep the bottles to the times your in the hotel, and sippy's in the parks, that way you can ease your bottle warming stresses. I wouldn't use a microwave to warm the bottle, not only does it leave hot spots, if you have plastic bottles, microwaving them can cause for strange chemical reactions between the plastic and the formula. A quick way of doing it if you are warming a bottle that already is mixed is to put it in a cup, turn on the hot water in the sink and put the bottle under the flow of water until it warms up, but that only really works in the hotel situation.

As to warming up jars of baby food, see if you can get a cup of hot water at table service restaurants, but your only way might be of going with the microwave for those (If you are packing a lot of baby food I would definitely get the gerber in the plastic stackable containers vs. the jars, because of the whole breakage issue.) Some restaurants when we couldn't time dinners out with kids would actually take the jars in the back and microwave them for me.

I also suggest making a second attempt at weaning your child down to (nearly) room temp water. You could also use mostly bottled water and just add a little bit of hotter water from the tap.

Incidentally, most botteld water in FL is just FL water put in a bottle. Certainly the Nestle brand is just that. Zephyr Hills.

I think most kids also become more adaptable when they are distracted in a place like WDW vs. the comfort and regularity of home/daycare. Every child is different, but it's worth another attempt.

One more thing, at that age, it is pretty easy to get apple sauce in the kids' meals - so that's an easy food to acquire for a child that age.

If it is as hot as it was when we where there in Sept. , Just set it out on the cement, it should be boiling in a matter of seconds. :rotfl: Just take bottle watered to the parks and if it has not been in a cool place, should be plenty warm to just pour and serve. When we were there I took a very cold bottle of water each morning and by noon it was above room temp. just from the heat.

Request a microwave in your reservation. At the GF it should be free. Use the microwave to heat baby food by doing so 10 sec. at a time stirring well and letting it sit for a minute then stir it again. Test it to make sure its not too hot. You can try getting your baby used to eating baby food cold (for refrig. leftovers) or at room temp before you go. I have found that they especially don't mind cold fruits.
For bottles do one of two things. Microwave water in the bottle if you are using formula. Usually 15-20 sec is enough if you use room temp bottled water. Add your formula mix (assuming you are using powder), stir well, let sit for a minute, stir again to make sure there are no hot spots and then test it. Second method is to again use room temp bottled water in your bottles (its easier to warm then cold water), heat tap water in a coffee mug or resort refillable mug etc... (something big enough to fit your bottle in) in the microwave for 1-2 min. Then place your already mixed room temp bottle in the heated water in the mug to warm it up. Make sure the water in the mug covers just the amount of formula (or pumped breast milk for that matter) you have in the bottle to be most effective, but not over the collar of the bottle. Takes 2-3 min to warm it.
