We are staying in the GF in 3 days:cool1: and have a 8 mo. son we are bringing with our 6 year old twins. I am wondering how I will warm his bottle in the room. Does anyone know if I can heat water in the coffee pot and use some for his bottle? Thanks for any suggestions, Linda

You could run water through the coffee maker and put the bottle in the water to warm it up. I would not use the water itself because there may be coffee residue. The coffee maker is a 4 cup model so a big bottle may not fit.

You can also use the food court microwave but that may be a hike or bring an electric teapot from home.

I would just fill the sink with hot water, and put the bottle in it for a few minutes. easy-cheesy!

Same here - even at home, we just used to put hot tap water in a pitcher and put the bottle in it until it was warmed up.

Same here while at home. Our tap water gets really hot so it worked out really well. I was very lucky that our DS13 was off the bottle by the time he was 10 months old. He wanted nothing to do with it. So travelling for us after that was a breeze.

I never used a microwave to heat my babies' bottles. I had an actual bottle warmer that you put water in and plugged in. I bought it at Wal-Mart, and I used it for bottles and baby food jars. The one I had was Parent's Choice brand, and worked quickly and very efficiently.

we asked at our ts for a cup of hot water to put dgd food in to heat, all our women waitress knew what we we doing and took care nof us. and the coofee pot in roomwould work too.

Personally, I would try to get him used to room tempertature bottles. I only heated bottles for my DD until she was about 3 months old, and then room temp. worked fine. Do you think he could get used to that?

We stayed at POFQ when DS was still on a bottle. I used the microwaves in the food court or the baby care centers (stovetop, bottle warmers etc) in the parks when I needed them. I did not use tap water for DS as the odd taste was noticable to him. Depending on your bottle type, the coffee pot would work too.

I also brought the medela microwave steamer bags to clean his bottles, also those pre-soaped dish soap pads, cut up in pieces (didnt need a whole one each day) for cleaning them!!

Have a great trip! 8 months old will be a great age for Disney! Old enough to like to look at things but young enough to not want to get out and run around everywhere!!

Thanks for all the great info. I ordered bottled water from garden grocer because Florida water is horrible (IMHO). I will try heating the water and then add the powder. He doesn't like the formula cool, we have tried. Linda

you can also try requesting a microwave for your room. We had one at WL. But if you aren't a rush, we would heat our bottle in a sink of hot tap water too without issue.

We went to WDW when ds was 6 months old. He was used to room temperature bottles so this was not a problem. As for heating baby food - never did - they both ate that at room temperature as well. As for the parks, I put water in the bottles before we left the room and just added in the powdered formula when we needed it. How are you planning to warm bottles in the parks? There are microwaves in the baby centers (the one at AK is very nice) but we found we were usually nowhere close when we needed them.

Or how about a thermos flask? You could get hot fresh water from the food court (i presume they do hot water for tea?) let it cool to the temp you want for a bottle then seal it up and when you need a bottle just pour the required amount in, add powder and shake! I used to do this when mine were little and we caravanned in england - ideal for the small hours of the morning feeds! I preferred not to use a microwave so this was the next best thing.

Microwave ovens tend to leave hot spots so be careful that your baby doesn't get burned.

You could get the small 8oz water bottles and keep them room temperature and then put them in the sink full of hot water when you need them. When your at restaurants or( food court )ask for a cup of hot water and put the bottle in it.
You could also get the ready to feed formula in 8oz cans to carry with you through out the parks. I did that with my dd.

I never warmed mine at all, in fact they got to where they like it cold. It sure saved me a lot of trouble. Also if you are down there in a few days, it may still be really hot. He may enjoy a cooler milk temp. Or maybe not.

We got a microwave at the Polynesian for all three of our kids. None of them liked the formula room temp or cool, and in the middle of the night the whole room would wake up from the crying if we didn't heat the bottle quickly enough. We'd stock up on bottled water (just like you are doing), request a microwave, and do it that way. Just be sure not to microwave for too long, shake the bottle a bit to make sure its evenly heated, and test it. Worked like a charm for us every time. :thumbsup2
