How to have the BEST Disney trip ever!! Ideas please!!

I have been to WDW so many times and I already know almost everything to do, except for just some of the extra special/interesting things.

My mom has taken me to WDW for that last 9 years for just a mother/daughter trip, but next year I am going to treat her to what I plan on being the most amazing Disney trip ever. Just the two of us, going to all of our favorite parks and no annoying brothers!!

I want to know any ideas of great places to eat, things to see, shows to watch. Little extras to make this a perfect trip. Maybe something special that just she and I could do! We always stay at Port Orleans Riverside and that is where I am going to stay, she just loves that resort so much!

I am going to make this a perfect trip for her and I am going to make sure that we do everything the parks that we haven't done before. Mostly the shows in Epcot World Showcase. But there are probably other things that I didn't know about that will make it special!! Please any ideas or suggestions I will gladly take!! Thanks!

What about doing one of the backstage tours? Behind the Seeds at Epcot, Keys to the Kingdom at MK or the Backstage Magic Tour? The Backstage Magic Tour is pricey, but I absolutely loved it. I also HIGHLY recommend the Lunch with an Imagineer experience at the Brown Derby in Hollywood Studios. I've done the lunch three times...it's a wonderful experience for a WDW veteran and definitely something different and special.

I think doing one of the tours is a great idea (and if you have a Disney Visa Card, you can get a discount on most of them).

I can highly recommend the "Wild Africa Trek" at Animal Kingdom. It's just a really great way to experience the park!

I also really enjoyed the "Around the World at Epcot" Segway tour. It's a really unique activity!

And then there's always the amazing "Dophins in Depth" tour at Epcot. It's a dolphin "experience" (not swimming with the dolphins, but you do get to touch & interact with them). Very, very enjoyable.

And then, there's always High Tea at the Grand Floridian. A really yummy, fun time. Great for conversation & feeling pampered.

Besides the tours, I would find out what "her" favorites are and do them. Have a wonderful time.

I second the vote for High Tea at the Grand Floridian.

Maybe a spa treatment?

Or just some "take time to smell the roses"? I love having a chocolate croissant at a table on the Boardwalk, watching everyone rush off to the parks. Then taking a leisurely walk around the lake.

Most of all just enjoy every minute together no matter what you are doing.

What about going thru your old pictures and finding one photo from each year somewhere and then going to that spot to do it again. That might be fun and a way to re-live the great times you have had for the past nine years. Or even just making a list of the top ten memories you have of your trips together and then doing them all again. Just an idea....

I have actually done this. I have gone through past vacation pictures and try to recreate them on the current trip. It is so much fun to see how the family has changed over the years and trips. My husband and I currently recreate a picture every time we go to Epcot. And to think of it, so does my brother and I.

That would be a great idea for a gift after the trip. Create a scrapbook where the older picture is on the left side of the book and the current picture in on the right side of the book.

There was a photographer who put together a similar idea to celebrate 20 years at Disneyland Paris. He asked people to submit pictures from 20 years ago and had those pictures recreated for today. It was really cool to see how the family members changed over 20 years.

I'll toss in another vote for the High Tea at the Grand Floridian and a spa treatment! I did this with my 2 girls a couple of years ago (while the boys went & played golf) and it was FABULOUS!!! We had mani/pedis at the GF Spa and then High Tea ..... such a lovely mother/daughter(x2) treat!

Here's another idea ..... BUY THE PHOTOPASS CD! Since it's just the 2 of you, this would help ensure you get all those photos of the 2 of you together in them (instead of someone always being BEHIND the camera!)

I've always wanted to take the tour of the Seas with Nemo where you snorkle in the reef area.

Do they still offer the dessert and fireworks package? That would be neat.

My 11-year-old twins want to eat at the Chef's Table at Victoria and Albert.

I don't think it matters what you do, you will have a have a great trip.

I took my mom last year and it turned out to be my very best trip ever. Why? Because we just rolled with the flow. She has an exstreamly hard time walking so going in I knew this would not be my normal commando trip. We make it to every park opening and just did what we felt like doing. I did everything i could to make things easier for her. We were there for 9 days and I can't think of anything we missed.

We also had my children with us, but had we not I would have booked a spa day or a special tour for us. We had a table service meal each day and she really enjoyed that. We would send the kids off to ride some things and we would sit and people watch or hit a few gift shops. Just what ever she wanted to do that's what we did.

I wanted that trip to be special for her because she had been wanting to go back for so long, and I don't know when she will go again. It was great! We laughed so hard, we ate great food, we talked a lot and we just enjoyed being there. I honestly can't remember a trip down there that I came home feeling relaxed, but I did after that trip. Just slowing down and enjoying every little thing around you can be amazing.

What about giving her a special "toolkit" with all what you planned! Like a "coupon" book and let her decide between different options... and so you can pamper her...
For examplo:
*Valid for an Ice Cream
*Valid for a dinner for us together

Last year, I took my mom in a similar trip.... the 1st 5 minutes when we arrived, she was already extremely happy and crying.... Parents love whatever we can do for them =)

If you like to enjoy wine, beer, or other drinks, I'd recommend lounge hopping. Split your hopping time based on geographic regions. (i.e. Epcot resorts, downtown Disney/Animal Kingdom Lodge, monorail loop). Sit at the bar, chat with the bartenders, ask them for their favorite drink recommendations.

It's a relaxing way to see the resorts, enjoy the atmosphere, and have reminisce.

My wife and I had a blast doing this in April.

I leave on Saturday with my sons for a twelve day trip. It is their fifth trip in seven years and although my 14 year old is excited, my 16 year old....mah...not so much! So I too wanted to make this trip something very special for the boys, understanding that this will probably be our last trip together (insert sob here!)

I've decided this time to have a more relaxed trip, hard for me!! The boys, being teens, will want to sleep in so I will leave the room and go for a walk or sit somewhere to enjoy a morning coffee while they sleep in a bit later. We'll tour when they feel like it and spend more time at the pools and waterpark as that is what they like. We'll go to Boardwalk and enjoy the "Kitchen Sink" together one last time. And, we may split up so they can do Disney Quest and I"ll shop or relax. I just want this trip to be fun for them, whatever they define as fun.

The one big surprise I do have for them though is tickets to La Nouba! They've always wanted to go and this time they will.

Rebecca, enjoy your trip with your Mom. I'm sure just you spending time with her in DW will make it the best trip ever as I know as a Mom, just having my boys with me makes it the best for me.
