I just returned from a trip that turned out to be the BEST EVER. We had so much fun this time around, while previous trips had been kind of a struggle. Some friends asked me what made the difference, so I wrote up this document. I thought I'd share here too.

For most people on these boards, the tips are a big ol' giant DUH, but it took me some trial and error to figure these things out.

(Not everyone may agree with some of what I've recommended. I know a lot of people don't like FL drinking water, for instance...)

I just read what you wrote and enjoyed reading it. The biggest thing that stood out to be is for people to be kind as I am handicapped and one woman was so mean to me I almost cried.

Sounds like excellent advice. Though our group is large for our upcoming trip, we don't have a problem splitting up :thumbsup2 One of my sisters and I are the adult die hard dis fans of the family. We take the kids and go. By kids I mean 13, 15, 18 and 20(I really hope he can go, he's got responsibilities now:thumbsup2), so we split from them too sometimes. Haha!!!!! :cheer2: It's gonna be great

The (rare) mean person may have had pain, or fear, or some terrible thing happen recently, and may not have understood how her wretchedness was affecting others. Sometimes people with psychological disabilities take out their issues on the rest of us. Please remember how genuinely generous and good most of the CW's are in Disney. We guests try, too!

i was on a scooter and she was just so snarky to me, trying to run in front of me to get by in a store as if her crossing in front of me was going to make a difference. when one is driving a scooter, even on low speed, which i was, we cannot come to a halt when someone does this. she yelled at me as if i was in the wrong when she sped up to cross in front of me. i did not hit her but she yelled at me, nice eh?

I have just returned from a September trip also.
I enjoyed reading your document. So many people think they have to "do everything", then get upset because they are in so many lines.

Read the link.. I enjoyed the tips and agree that a more relaxed attitude to visiting attractions should be adopted. Proper planning will giver proper balance.. We're supposed to be there in good spirits and having the time of our lives.. not being miserable because we didn't get that one scheduled event in like we wanted.

Don't expect to get everything in if visiting one or two days. That's just not realistic.

Our 21 day vacation between December 15th and January 5th will be the following approach..
=Get in all of the hard to see attractions before the crowd arrives
=When the crowd arrives, take in the environment around Christmas and New Years.. don't expect to visit hard to see attractions at the same frequencies.. lots of parades, seasonal celebrations, reserved restaurant seatings, shows, fireworks, and down time at the condo recuperating.
=Having seen most of the attractions possible already with little kids, we are looking to additional attractions that our 5 year old can participate in. Sort of a refreshing approach to visiting Disney World once again.

:)

Good reading! Thanks for putting this together. I am going with my entire family in December, some of whom haven't been to the world in a few years, and I would like for them to read this as well.

Great article. Lots of practicle advice especially for a newbie like me. Thanks for sharing. I've actually saved it into my WDW file and will take it with me on our upcoming trip in Feb.
:disrocks:

What great suggestions. We did a grand gatherings with 21 people of all ages. Before we left it was agreed that we would all go our on way and meet for the one planned meal of the day. It was wonderful. We would run into each other at different rides or shows. Everyone was happy because there was not a set agenda.

+1 :thumbsup2

I am a huge fan of large groups that split up and meet together for 1 TS meal a day. I *WISH* :wizard: Disney would do a better job of seating large groups together at TS restaurants.

OP, I have copied that link I am emailing to my DH's family tonight! We are doing a family trip next June and it is perfect!!!

Thank you for all the nice responses! And yes, please pass this link around! I had such a good time this visit that I just had to share.

Those are all fantastic totally agree with getting up early!!!! IT'S SO WORTH IT! Beat the crowds beat the lines :thumbsup2

Great list! Thank you.

My only comment/addition would be on the water. You can go to most counter service restaurants and ask for a cup of free water. It comes in a WDW soda cup with ice and is filtered (the same water/pump for the fountain soda) so does not taste bad like the outside water fountains. Remember to ask for a medium or large cup otherwise you might get a small 8oz cup. I also have crystal light packets on me in case someone wants to add it to their cup of water.

It really saves carrying a water bottle all the time which can be cumbersome and or heavy.

I loved your list!
I do want to add that if you don't want to bring an umbrella or spend so much money on the ponchos there....many local dollar stores carry adult and children ponchos.
I always purchase them from there and pack them in the suitcase :)
Great thing is they are ONLY A DOLLAR!! :)
