Howdy, Folks..
We have a reservation at Trails End but are not staying at the fort..
Before our dinner we want to rent a couple little boats to cruise around in then head to TE. .How do we get to TE without staying at FW... I know cars are not allowed to drive around FW....THANKS IN ADVANCE. .

assuming you plan the boat rental at FW, easiest would how ever you would get to MK and then ride the boat to FW. boat dock is near the little boat rental and is a short walk to TE which can be seen if you know what you are looking at from rental area. and yes you are right about no cars in that area as there is no parking lot for cars in that area just golf carts. repeat back to your way back to your resort

Cars are allowed to park at the main front entrance and that is what we did last time. We parked at the front entrance and then took the loop buses where we needed to go. It is walk-able from WL as well.

Where are you staying? If you have a car (or you can uber/lyft/Minnie Van), you can drive to the main parking lot and take a bus over to the area where TE is located. If you are relying on WDW transportation, as others have said, go to MK and boat from there.

Depending on where you are staying, you could use Disney’s boat transportation to get to FW marina. You can rent boat there and then walk to TE after (few minutes walk). If boat ride to FW isn’t available where you are starting from, you could park at FW main entrance and use FW internal bus system to get to TE/marina.

We always boat from MK, Trails End is a family favorite! We love the food there and as far as I know they still accept the 10% off from using DV. ENJOY!

We have tried a few different methods of getting there, but we have found the best way to get there is to start our day in MK and then take the ferry over to the campground. The boats let you off right by the restaurant, and it's a really fun ride over.

What they said. Alternately, as someone suggested, you can drive or boat to WL and then walk over. We enjoy the walk (about a mile one way) as it's quite possible to see wildlife, and we like that we can get away from the hustle and bustle of the parks (and even resorts) on the walk. Plus, it walks off some of the calories. ;)

Just don't take that walk at night!

VERY DARK!:)

If you are wanting to take your vehicle there, just drive to Fort Wilderness. You will park in front of the resort, and then take the internal bus to "back" of the resort where TE is. You can also rent a boat there too.

Sounds like a great time!

You can also take a bus from any other park to Fort Wilderness, you will dropped at the main lot "Outpost" bus terminal, then take any bus to the "Settlement" bus terminal. then follow the crowds to Trail's End, which is right past the Hoop-De-Doo building.

Another option is a bus from MK that goes to Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness and will drop you at the Settlement terminal.

I think your only option for transportation to and from Fort Wilderness to MK is the boat...you can get to Fort Wilderness from the other parks via a bus.

Unless they've discontinued it, there is definitely a bus that runs between Wilderness Lodge, Fort Wilderness and Magic Kingdom. It does NOT take longer than the boat, but actually is a good option for people who might not like going over that open water. I'll go ask over at the camping forum to see of it still runs.

I checked in the Camping Forum, the bus is still running, here is the answer:

It was running back in October. We were in costume heading from the 1800 loop to the marina on our way to MNSSHP so the bus driver knew where we were heading. As we got to the bus stop, the MK bus also pulled up and our driver said it would be quicker to take the bus. We never really considered taking a bus to MK since the boat rides are so nice, but it was a quick ride and you get dropped off pretty close.

Thanks for the update! I couldn't remember if there was one running or not. :-)

last I knew you can transfer to internal campground bus yellow at Wilderness Lodge but that would take more time than the boat ride and walk from dock
