My friends and I would like to spend some time horseback riding at FW but we'll be staying at PC. I've read that it's better to have a car if you plan on visiting FW, can we still get there - we won't have a car? I'm assuming we'd need to go to one of the parks first, but then what? Also, how long does it take to get there without a car? Last year when I was at ASMu, we inquired about horseback riding, and the cm on the phone said the travel time would take up most of our day. That's fine, but I'd like to know what exactly "most of the day" means.

I can't go along with the "most of the day comment. All you need to do is take a bus to a tansfer point (i.e. TTC or DD) and change to a bus going to FW.

My gut feeling is that it shouldn't take you more than an hour from any resort. Remember, the trail ride starts at the Wilderness Corral (which is up front by the reception outpost) not at the bars by the marina.

But, you could make a day of it by picking several activities:

  • Trail Ride
  • Petting Zoo
  • Lunch/Dinner at Trails End
  • Dinner at the Hoop De Do
  • Carrage Ride
  • Campfire & Movie
  • Boat Rides
  • Hay Ride
  • Walking around the campground

then take the boat to FW...look around the marina end of FW then take an internal bus to the reception area and the trail ride

You can also take the bus from PC to the MK then get on the boat to FW. Buses and boats run every 20 minutes. If you go by boat, then you will have to get on an internal bus up to where the horseback riding is.

THis would be the easist way....or plan to go horseback riding on a day that you're already at MK,perhaps?

Thanks so much, I was really stressing over this one. The trip was my idea, and I'm the only one who's ever been, so I automatically became the designated planner, but I was totally lost on this. I really appreciate the help :teeth:. I was actually thinking we could make that day a semi "rest day". Horseback riding, maybe some time at the pool, and maybe a little time at the BW if we feel like it, but other that that not much activity.
