How to get to character breakfasts?

I've read somewhere to be careful what time you schedule an ADR for a character breakfast at another resort due to the bus schedules. Can someone explain this to me - can it be done? What time do the buses start running? How much time is needed to get from one resort to another? What is the earliest time you would schedule a character bkfst?

The early ressie are the best because you get the characters to yourself for a while. We went to Chef Mickey for a 7:30am ressie taking the monorail because it started at 7am. Little did we know that they start TESTING the monorail at 7am so it took 30 MIN from the Poly to the Contemporary.
Luckily we still made the ressie

While it is an additional expense I would recommend calling a cab for the early morning ressie rather than rely on resort transportation. While I am all for resort transportation there are times when you are better off making alternative arrangements. Usually the cab fare is nominal ($5-$8) but it's worth it to make it to your early am ressie!

I would also suggest calling a cab for early morning ressies. The breakfast buses literally only run every 20 minutes so if you miss one, you'll definately be waiting another 20 minutes (if not longer) for the next one. Last year, we knew that the buses ran at exactly 7, 7:20, 7:40 from AKL to MK. We arrived at 6:55am. Well, the 7am bus didn't arrive, the 7:20 bus didn't arrive. Finally at 7:30 we asked another bus driver to call the MK bus for us. (we had a 8:10 ADR at the castle). We literally had to run at full speed to get there in time (and we certainly weren't there 10-15 minutes early like you are supposed to be). We always take a cab if we are going to a different resort because of the amount of travel time that it takes to get from one resort to another in the morning. But we figured since we were going right to MK, it wouldn't be so bad. Never again. We will take a cab for any early ADRs for now on.

We were last there in 2006 and we had an ADR at Chef Mickey's one morning while we were staying at Beach Club and I checked at the front desk and we had no problem getting there on time via Disney transportation, bus.

Leaving an hour before and using WDW transportation? And for early morning ressies?

Thanks everyone for your input! :)

I have always used WDW transportation. And I find leaving an hour before any ressies, we have always our ressies no problem (maybe we've been just lucky). The earliest ressie i've done is 8 a.m.

Usually there is no problems with the buses and getting to ressies on time. However our last trip in Feb we almost missed a lunch ressie because one of the drivers forgot our stop so we bearly made it. I am told that even after a ressie the resturant will hold the reservation for 30 minutes. Still I would confirm with the front desk about how and what is the quickest way to get where you are going.

I've only had a problem once...but the anxiety is caused me is worth the cost of a cab! I wrote about my issue above. I left OVER an hour to get to MK and didn't get to my ADR in time...I was lucky that the computers were down at CRT that morning so they were late themselves.
