How to get to AKL from OKW without a car?

We will be for the first time, changing hotels during our March trip. We usually stay at OKW the whole time. My question is I have no idea how to get to AKL when we don't have a vehicle? For those of you that have switched during a stay without a car how did you do it?

I also posted this on the transportation board. But this question is just for other DVC'ers---I was wondering if one of the DVC mini vans would do this??????

Don't know about the mini van.

Take a resort bus to DTD, pick up AKL bus there.

If any of the parks are open, you can also ride to a park and then take another bus to AKL (AK would certainly be the closest park and MK the farthest). The DD bus would be the most consistent since it runs from about 8AM thru 2AM. Give yourself about an hour if you have a PS or other time committment.

The OKW vans are usually only for internal resort business, but it can't hurt to ask. A cab shouldn't be more than about $10-15 if the other suggestions won't work for your needs.

I wouldn't want to drag my luggage on a Disney Bus and transfer Downtown or from one of the parks, etc. In August, I'll be switching from Saratoga Springs to the Boardwalk mid-trip and I plan on calling a cab....a van type one since there's 5 of us and all of our luggage. It's worth $20. Have a great trip! I hope to stay at AKL one of these days!

The resorts will move your luggage for you. You don't need to take them on the buses.

I would take the AK bus and then go from there to AKL. Or just go to whatever park you plan to be in that day, enjoy and then take the AKL bus home.

Thanks for the info. We will call for luggage transfer and then head to a park and then check-into AKL in the afternoon. I did not know that Disney would transfer luggage, that it great!

DUH!! Sorry, I missed the fact that you're changing resorts (I thought you were just dining at AKL).

As already noted, just call Bell Services. They will pick up your luggage at your OKW room and it will be transported by Disney (without charge) to AKL. You will have to claim it at AKL after checking in. The luggage is usually not available at the new resort until after 4PM, so make sure you have all needed items with you. Check-in at AKL is 3:00pm. Once your claimed your bags, they will be brought to your room by the AKL Bell staff (gratuities are always appreciated on both ends of the transfer).

We've done this several times without problem and wouldn't hesitate to let the Bell staff assist with all the details.

Schedule SSR tour. Get picked up, see SSR, and then asked to be dropped at AKL.
