I have to work a double shift on Saturday! :headache: It's gonna be about 9 hours. With ONE 30 minute break in the middle.

The shoes I bought absolutely KILL my toes, to the point where I almost feel like I need to collapse. And this is only for my usual 5 hour shift. So I definitely need to buy new shoes.

The time crawlssssss by. I got there at noon yesterday and felt like I had did a whole days work and it was only 1:30. This especially happens when I get salad bar because it's constant bending, lifting, wiping, and walking back and forth.

If the world loves me at all then it'll make sure I'm AT LEAST a pizza stocker on Saturday. That's so much easier on my back because there's nothing heavy too lift and not a lot of bending or wiping.

I'm honestly not sure I can make it if they stick me on salad bar. But I need to.

I haven't really made any 'friends' so I can't even look forward to joking around with them. Maybe by Saturday I will though, because I work all this week except for Thursday and today. I mean, the people are nice and friendly but I haven't really bonded with any of them.

So, please please give me some tips about how to make it through this!

When I worked at the amusement park near me last summer we worked 8 hour shifts but I usually worked 9 because I was in the corner of the park and nobody came to cover me. And the sad part was we only got a 1/2 hour for lunch too. I would just try and not look at the clock as much. I hated that job!

I have no advice but I just want to wish you Good Luck!
And if your feet hurt afterwards maybe you can ask a parental unit for a quick rub if it doesn't bother you?

Good Luck, Jenny!

Well, I'm a huge weirdo and dork, so people are instantly at ease when they're around me (knowing that I'll always make a bigger fool out of myself than they will), so I make friends at work really easily which really helps pass the time.

As long as you keep yourself busy and don't look at the clock too frequently, it should pass. I work 9 hour shifts with an hour long lunch, and I know how they creep really slowly.

my first bit of advice:
GET SOME COMFY SHOES!!
I got some reeealy comfy ones at payless for 15$...the aren't the nicest looking things, but they sure are heaven on my feet after 8 hours of standing in one place selling tickets!!

Definitley try to make some friends too, that would make the time go by quicker, and being there for NINE hours, it shouldn't be too difficult.
Just try and stay positive and don't look @ the clock!!
I always cover the clock on my till with a little piece of paper so i'm not constantly looking @ it!

Again, try and stay positive (I know that'll be reeeally hard) and be really friendly, with co-workers, and even customers, sometimes funny & friendly customers can really make a shift go by quicker.

Good luck!!!! And seriously...if you get the chance GET SOME COMFY SHOES! your feet (and legs and back)will thank you!

man here for every 2 hours you work you get a 15 minute break...At 4 hours you get a "lunch" break which is 30 minutes...

And students can only work like 6 hours a day

I suggest getting some insoles for your shoes...like Dr. Shoels. or however thats spelt

I'll probably be going Wednesday night to shop for new shoes (At this point I honestly don't care how hideous they are, as long as they're comfy! And maybe some of those gel insert thingies.)

The clock is my biggest enemy! It's right above me so I'm looking at it constantly. Especially because when we take orders we have to put the time on them. But I'll try my very hardest not to look at it unnecassarily.

I bet by Saturday I'll have some friends. Everyone is really friendly so it shouldn't be hard to make some casual friends. I just know that would help a lot lot lot lot!

Actually, the customers are also one of my favorite parts. A lot of them are regulars so they're comfortable with the enviroment and such. I really like being out there with the customers. :)

Another bad thing is that there's really no place to sit back there. If there was I'd probably be sitting all day.

If it's possible for you to wear flip flops try buying a pair of ocean minded flip flops. SOOO comfortable! I got mine at Dillard's.

Onlytip I got for you is geta some coumfy shoes and just have fun and also what happened with Burger King??

No lol. In flip flops I will most definitely slip and fall. Closed toed shoes only.

I'm sorry if this sounds mean, but didn't I already tell you? I left BK because it was making me sob, so I changed to CiCi's and it's much better.

Just think of it this way, it's like going to school and a sports practice.
I know you were homeschooled for a while, but just think, you were able to make it through school all those days.
This is like school (slightly boring and annoying) but you get PAID for it :D

Good luck!

Haha, yeah. I just hope hope hope they don't put me on the salad bar on saturday! That would totally suck.

I actually made a friend today. Sorta. The girl who trained me on the cash register, she's sooo sweet. That's good I guess. :)

Oh yah, I hate working double shifts. On Fridays I work two jobs and I have a one hour rest between the two. Its horrible, but i'm cool with it cause I live on Burger king the whole day. LOL
