I saw that someone mentioned they were a "fan club member" and got a rate of $139 at one of the 3 universal hotels...How do I become a fan club member, OR any suggestions on where to find good discounts (we will be on our honeymoon-staying at a universal resort JULY 7-9 only) then onto Cancun yeaaaa :)

You used to be able to get Fan Club Cards from Tinkerbarb..... here is the last post on the subject that I've found from her.

I've run out of FAN CLUB cards
I'm so sorry, but I've run out of cards. Fan Club has become "paperless" and is no longer sending out hard cards. You must now go thru their web site and use the code FAN. This code is for members only and you might have to prove that your company is a member. They will honor old cards till the end of the year, but unfortunatley, I no longer have any cards to send out. Perhaps folks on the boards with cards they are not using can loan them out to folks needing them for upcoming trips.

bg4, Not to be argumentative, however, I would suggest that jamiejeremy take Tinkerbarbs advice, and search the fan club site. The fan club code is for members only and you might have to prove that your company is a member. UNLESS, you can get an "old" card from someone.

HOWEVER, an old card wouldn't do you any good, since you post your dates as July -- the old cards are only good thru the end of the year!!!

** TIP ** I've noticed that you have posted a lot of ??'s here, and while everyone will try to help you........ there are TONS of post that answer each and every ? you've asked. If you just do a little research by reading previous post, you will find all the info you can stand!!!! ;)

You may want to search for other discount rates that would apply to the dates of your stay.

Good Luck

WOW!!!!!!!!! First of all I have NEVER used the fan club rate, therefore I have NO experience with it period. Nor did I ever say that I did. I simply was refering the op to a post from someone who is obviously VERY much more familiar with it than YOU!! I would assume, that you are either a fan club member OR you have a card......... niether of which the op states they are or have! Frankly, I'm glad for you that you have had such success using the card....... however, since they are no longer issuing cards and possibly requiring proof that your company be a member........ then I stand by my advice to the op.

You clearly don't understand the concept of these boards, and what MOST of us here do........ which is to give the best advice to people who ask for it, and yes should it apply, give them our experiences as well. Which by the way............. DO VARY on almost everyone's part. EXCEPT for your's of course!
Once you re-read this, I know you'll agree how ridiculous what you wrote sounds!

But your experiences may possible, somehow, somewhere, and in a someway I never thought of ---- vary----, although I doubt it.

You unfortunetly have assumed I was "attacking" you in some way........ and I wasn't! Only pointing out that perhaps, and clearly it is so........ there is information that you don't know about, and just trying to pass it along, without someone, i.e. (YOU) getting offended.......... which you did!!! :) Your post makes it sound as though the op can just go get a card, or number or whatever and viola........ that's that........... which is NOT the case. If you had read my post you'd have realized that. I'm not challenging your "experience"........... or you. I don't need too, my information is accurate. PERIOD and everyone on these boards is only trying to give accurate info to those who ask for it. In fact, after re-reading these post........ you seem to imply the message from me.......... with info from Tinkerbarb is not correct......... well I assure you, once you do your homework on the subject you'll see that it is. Not to be argumentative or anything!!! OH, yeah, your complimentary gift........... WOW, now there is just one more example of people's experiences varying................. hummmmmmmm what a concept!!!! amazing!!

ALSO............... on the link you supply it clearly states the following if you actually read it................

"Fan Club membership is available through your Human Resources Department or Employee Services. Individuals are not eligible to enroll. Fan Club membership links are only available through your employer, not to individuals". Participation in the Fan Club program is subject to any terms and conditions that Universal Orlando or the Fan Club department may adopt or change periodically.

All membership benefits are subject to change without notice. Fan Club cannot be combined with any other offers.

Forfeiture of company participation in Fan Club or rewards or reward invitations sent to Fan Club company contacts may occur if contact or company gives false or misrepresented information to the Fan Club or Universal Orlando. Forfeiture may also occur if contact or company does not follow program rules."

SO---- the op's employer would have to be a fan club member for them to get the discount, as the program has gone paperless........ meaning that after the end of this year........ (Dec. 04) no cards will be accepted!!!!!!!!!! She states her trip is in July '05............. therefore, again.................. I stand by my advice!!!

Friends of ours were asked for their fan club card two weeks ago at RPR. She didn't have it because it is mine and I let someone else borrow it who hasn't returned it, etc. etc. Anyway, my friend just said that she wasn't aware that she needed to show it and the clerk said that it wasn't a big deal. Personally, I would want to take the risk and end up having to pay rack rate. There are other discounts around that are more secure.

My best advice is to call the reservations line and ask what discounts are available at that time. Book one and then arrange to get whatever you need to receive the discount that will be most cost efficient for you.

THANK YOU, Damo......... that was my point!!!! I would hate for someone to use a discount that does NOT apply to them!!! Then be stuck..........

I gave the op the exact same advice you did on another of her post.

Research........ things change so quickly sometimes, or are not widely known......... so when passing along info it is wise to find out what is accurate....... even or especially if it differs from someone else's "experience".

I just appreciate someone taking some advice for what it is, and knowing that it was NOT a challenge on them personally!!!! ;)

may have been mentioned in another relpy to one of the OP's posts....

If you apply and are accepted to themouseforless.com, one of the perks is membership to the FAN club. As mentioned, the club will be paperless by 2005, so you won't need a card. If they ask for proof of membership, you show them your free printable membership card for themouseforless (only available after approved membership). HTH!

D4est............... Thank You for that info............ which I did NOT know!!! That is the point of these boards!!! And, I'm not at all offended by you passing along.......... other/ correct/ useful information!!! ;)

Again......... were all hth!!!

I have cards if anyone needs one. E-mail if you want one.
Giving away a card is just as wrong as making a res w/o a card.

Actually, it is a kind gesture. It's the way we all try to help eachother as much as possible!!

Again, the cards are only good until the end of this year, though!
