We are planning a trip to DL for early December, any advice on how to get the best rate for the GC?

Early December isn't a very crowded time, so Disney should have some attractive rates. To keep informed of their various savings codes (used to book discounted rooms), subscribe to the Mouse Savers Newsletter. Click here: MOUSESAVERS.

Keep in mind though that DL is experiencing a higher number of visitors this year because of the 50th Anniversary celebration. Even at the end of September, traditionally a slower time, according to the official website, PP is sold out, and GC only has artisan suites left. Also, GC is the most popular of the 3 resorts, and hence the most expensive.

If you have your heart set on staying at GC, I would book it now and work on applying discounts later (but be sure to check the cancellation policy first in case you decide you want to cancel if the price doesn't go down).

The lowest rates seem to be found on Expedia and Travelocity, but you might not have any view options other than the standard room. If you belong to AAA, you might be able to get a slight discount with that too. Ditto the advice to check Mousesavers, although DL doesn't seem to offer the deep discounts that you can find at WDW.

I booked thru Dreams Unlimited for my September vacation (I booked a package) at DLH. At first, I could only get a standard view, although I wanted a pool/resort view. After I booked it, I was looking at the official site and found that pool/resort view rooms became available, and somehow the price went down. I asked DU if they could change my view and apply the lower rate, and they did it without a problem, saving me about $200 off the original price and giving me an upgraded view.

I hope I don't sound like a downer, but just want you to be prepared, especially with the 50th this year! Keep us posted! :flower:

Also, the first weekend of December has traditionally been the Candlelight Procession weekend. So, rates for that time period will be higher.
