Is there a way of getting photos off an old iphone? My son is real mad at me. He had a virus on his laptop. There was a miscommunication and I reset it to factory settings not knowing that he had these pictures on his laptop so not saving these photos.

I'm assuming that the photos are still on the iphone? You could try backing it up or emailing them using wifi.

If the photos are still on the phone, you just have to plug the phone in to a computer. It should show up like a flash drive where you can just select them and drag them over.

thanks I will try both of these suggestions.

You should be able to transfer them to the Cloud or something. Worst case scenario, you could email them to yourself, but that could be really time consuming if there are a lot of them.

I would be a bit hesitant to try to re-sync the phone with iTunes if the computer has been restored. It might wipe the phone's library clean when you do. I have plugged used devices into my computer before and it would wipe them out when I synced them. That could be because they were not on my iTunes account. It does ask before wiping it out, so you should have a chance to back out before that happens.

As mentioned before, if the email is on WIFI it would be better because it wouldn't eat up your data. Same would be true with cloud backup. If the pics are important, I would definitely explore the idea of backing them up via email or cloud before plugging it into the computer.

The easiest way will be to use Dropbox.

Set up a Dropbox acct on the PC and then install the Dropbox app on the iPhone. Then use their camera sync feature to sync all of the photos to Dropbox. They will then sync to the PC.

After they are in the Dropbox folder on the PC you can then move them back to the Pictures folder.

Here is a Mac Life article about it.

That sounds like a very good idea. ::yes::
