How to Get More FP+?

I am curious if anyone has ever purchased 2 park tickets in order to obtain more FP tickets for extremely busy days (Christmas/Spring Break). I know the park tickets are pricey to begin with but when you are there for only 3 or 4 days during an extremely busy time does it make sense to splurge and buy another park ticket so you can get 6 FP rides (plus additional after each ticket has used the initial 3). If we are using Magic Bands, will a cast member be ok to scan both bands on one person when entering the park for the first time? Any advice, suggestions, etc. greatly appreciated!

If you already have a set of MagicBands, you don't need extra tickets.
You just need extra MagicBands.
Even if you don't already have MBs, you can buy a set and use the tickets for
one set of FP+ and the MBs ("registered to a different name") for another set of FP+.

You can buy MagicBands at every gift shop at WDW or online at disneystore.com.

When you buy the new MB's, register them to a different name and different MyDisneyMagic
account than your original tickets or MagicBands.

Thank you for your quick reply Robo. I spoke with Undercover Tourist regarding this possibility as they are the company we are considering purchasing additional tickets with. They said when we go through the park entrance they will scan our fingerprint and it will be tied to our Magic Band so we will not be able to go through with our fingerprint and a different Magic Band. Is it always the same finger (ie Index finger?).

I often wondered if I could by a set of tickets and never use them -- just leave them in MDE -- so I could make an extra set of 60 day FPs with them.

Right now I'm an AP holder and when H and I go alone we add 2 of our kids on our hotel reservation so we each get 6 FPs @ 60 days out. Their MB does NOT need to be scanned at the front gate in order to use the FPs. So, theoretically, I could purchase 2 tickets and assign them a fake name, link them in my MDE, add those fake people to my hotel ressie, then use those bands for 60 day FP -- all without using the actual ticket, since the band doesn't have to be scanned at the gate in order to use the FPs -- so I could do it over and over again using the same ticket. Right? Or no?

Fastpasses are linked to a person. Tickets are linked to a person. Unless the tickets are linked to different "people," you won't get extra fastpasses.

MomTo3 Princesses in NJ have you actually tried this? I would think Disney knows and would rig the system so a MB would have to be scanned at the entry gate before issuing FP inside on a particular date. I don't think simply having a MB would enable you to get FP tickets. I would think the MB needs to be scanned at the front gate on that date of entry in order to secure FP at the Kiosk in the park. I could be wrong.

the magicband does not need to be scanned for entry so this does work

I was trying to figure that out as well, how does a MB work without having a ticket linked to it.

Yes, we have gone to the park, scanned our bands, had 2 kids Annual Pass bands loaded with 3 FP each in our pocket, and used all 4 bands with FPs. The band does NOT have to be scanned at the entrance in order to use the FPs on it.

That is also how Robo's suggestion above works -- except in that instance you can only use the "extra" MB for same day fast passes -- I want to be able to have 60 day FPs.

I think it's a glitch. The MB can be used for a same day fast pass via a kiosk without having a park ticket linked to it.

In my case, I want to link a ticket to a MB, I just don't want to USE the ticket (i.e. scan it at park entry). That way I can book the FPs at 60 days vs. same day.

ahh, well that makes sense. I was thinking about the alternate idea though. How do you book FP+ on an active MB without a ticket for same day.
It just doesn't make sense.

Currently, all you need is a MB to get FP's...it does not have to be linked to a ticket to get same day fastpasses.

There are two ways that I know of. I have never done this, but there are numerous reports on here of people doing it.

1) Same-day Fast Passes. (Doesn't require a ticket) Buy a second Magic Band and link it to a second My Disney Experience MDE account. No need to buy another ticket. You can use that for "same day" fast passes. (You can walk right up to the kiosk at park open and get 3 more Fast Passes that are available for that day).

2) 30 Days out. (Requires a ticket) If you have already have Magic Bands and have an annual pass, or no-expiration ticket with any days left or any unused ticket in one MDE account ..... you can ALWAYS reserve Fast Passes with that MDE account at 30 days out (whether you are going to the parks or not).

So, if you book a resort vacation via a NEW MDE account you'll get new Magic Bands, new tickets, etc. So you can book your FPs at 60 days out. Then you use your old MDE account to book three more FPs at 30 days out on the same days and you end up having 6 Fast Passes every day of your trip. You just need to have 2 Magic Bands per person and remember which rides are go with which band.
Heck .. if you knew friends or family that Had annual passes and let you borrow them .. you could probably stock up on magic bands and have an arm full of them and not wait in a single line for an entire week.

It's a neat loophole because it lets people do things they want to do anyway like:
- Get around the awful tiering system at Epcot and DHS
- Make Fast Passes at multiple parks on the same day (ahead of time)
- Make Fast Passes for the same ride twice in the same day.

To me .. both options are pretty shocking loopholes to the "spirit" of the Fast Pass system. I just don't understand how the technology isn't there that if a MB isn't scanned at the park entrance it shouldn't work inside for Fast Passes.

That being said, I will do it on my next trip if I do a resort stay. If the loophole is there, why not take advantage of it? What else are these extra Magic Bands good for?

So in regards to #1 could we bring our kids magic bands from the last trip and do this? or does it have to be a MB from a separate account? (not that we would, DH & I are mostly hoping to do non rides this trip)

You can use the MBs of previous guests who are not on a particular trip.

In order to secure FP on MDE you need a ticket or Pass Number indicating you have purchased park tickets. I don't see how simply having a MB will get you FP tickets unless of course you are an AP.

Right.

But it seems like Robo (and others above) are saying .. if you take an old Magic Band (say from your mother-in-law who was on your last trip, but isn't on this one) .. walk up to a FP Kiosk in the park and scan it. It WILL allow you to reserve three Fast Passes on it for that day only. It doesn't make sense why it would work (since the band doesn't have a ticket associate with it and it wasn't scanned to get into the park), but it seems like people HAVE done this.

But do make FP reservations via MDE app, you do need tickets associated with a person and it needs to be the appropriate number of days out.

Sorry if this is a silly question but no exactly sure what works and what doesn't....so, say for example we are doing a split stay so we have two sets of bands. If we just keep the initial set of bands to use after our second hotel check-in, but I set up a second account and bring the other set of bands with us into the park, can I get SDFPs or are they still clones of our initial set? I'm curious because when we did a split stay last April, they made a big deal out of activating our new bands when we checked into the second hotel, and it seemed important that we not mix them up?!
