How to get magic bands

After you book your Disney trip, how do you get magic bands?

Assuming you are staying in a WDW resort? Sign in to your account in the Disney site, and there is a link for Magic Bands. It will tell you how many days you have left to customize your bands. You can make changes during this period until they ship (couple of weeks before your visit.)

You must buy a package that includes tickets, or buy tickets in advance to go with your room only reservation.

Go to mydisneyexperience.com and create an account if you don't already have one. Sign in if you do.

Link your reservation # into your account. (and your ticket reservation #s if separate.) Wait a day or two and when you sign in it should have a MagicBand order waiting.

Customize the bands (choose color and name for each one).

60 days prior to arrival you can make FP+ reservations.

At a define number of weeks prior to arrival the bands will ship if you are in the US, if not, you pick them up at check in.

If you request them they are still supposed to give RFID cards to you. I've heard some stories where people haven't gotten them even when they ask.

There are numerous reports on the boards of being able to link tickets purchased from AAA and other authorized sellers. Purchasing a package is not a requirement.

When we say that the bands come "a few weeks before the trip" are we talking like a month before or like the week of? We've customized out bands but still don't have a shipment date, and not getting the bands on time is kind of a fear that I have.

Mine came 27 days before arrival.

....and if you look on the "MagicBands and Cards" page on MDE it will tell you how many days are left to customize. After that, it'll show you when they are working on fulfilling your order. And then you'll get an email with a tracking number so you'll know when to expect them.

My MagicBand is from a room only reservation.

Our customize by date was march 4th but we made the reservation the 20th or so. We were still able to customize and received them in time despite the ship date being 3 weeks before we customized.

I actually have gotten AAA tickets and linked them to the magic bands for a friends reservation last year. we booked DVC we had AP's and we got them the tix from AAA. very easy to link them.
