How to get him back on board?

We also have 3 kids, including twins, but ours were a bit older than yours when we first sailed. I say wait another year until they are older. My other bit of advice is sail in Jan or Feb, it's much cheaper. Our upcoming August cruise is more than twice as expensive as our previous cruises in Jan and Feb. Also, do not hesitate to pull your kids out of school now while they're young. It may seem like a bad idea and something you'd never consider, but guess why we had to cruise in August this time (and pay twice as much as we used to). Yep, can't miss school now that they're older. You also have an advantage in that you have twins and your kids are so close in age that they can all enjoy the kids club together. This can be very advantageous as they get older (even though i bet they don't always get along, just having their sister may a comfort factor); they may be more.comfortable starting out in one club together and maybe branch out to the other that may be more interesting. Like someone above said, on our first cruise, we didn't just put them in the clubs any old time, we picked specific activities they wanted to do then picked them back up. Last, if it won't work out to bring your husband, it's a great idea to bring your mom. But, an even better idea is bringing your mom AND your husband and book two rooms. However, you'll only get the placeholder discount on the one unfortunately. And as everyone above said, it's okay if you end up not going and getting your money back. But I think I would start wirh looking at off-season cheaper rates. Good luck!

Completely agree about the kids. When they were in elementary & Jr. High, it wasn't a big deal for them to work ahead on their school/home work so we would cruise in early Dec to get the Merrytime at a good cost. Schoolwork completed before the cruise, we had no problems at all on that front. The twins (our youngest) were 7 on our first cruise and worked well. They CLAB'ed together with our son (2 yrs older) and by cruise #2, it was off to the races. They adapted well

I wouldn't want my husband to go on a cruise if he didn't want to go. He actually used to say he didn't want go and I would go without him. For some reason me going without him makes him want to go and we have a couple cruises booked, even after he has said he wouldn't cruise again.

If he is interested in trying a shorter cruise with concierge, maybe he would enjoy that with a few days at a beach resort or a visit to WDW. If he didn't get to rest as much as he likes, I would focus more on figuring out a way to rest and relax. Concierge can help with that, but that won't get him a break from the kids and it sounds like he wants that for part of the time.

I don't know if anyone's mentioned this yet - but it might have been the Heat. So if you want to go to the Caribbean, try "shoulder season" like April / May (avoid spring break times and around easter) or October/November. Weather should be a little cooler and less humid and the pricing would be better.

Or try Alaska. On our cruise there were a lot of people from Texas, Arizona, Florida (etc) getting a break from the Heat (and Humidity) of the summer.

Then again, when you go to WDW, if you are go, Go, GO - and GO Some more people, a cruise is lots more laid back and that takes a different mind set and expectations.

Good Luck !!! ::yes::

I think if you want to see if you really do like cruising is to go with another line ... for example one of Royal Caribbean's Oasis class ships ... and go for the Eastern Caribbean itinerary ... or Southern etc ... (personally I have never been a fan of the Western itinerary). To be honest we have yet to try RCL but we've cruised on Carnival, Celebrity, Princess, NCL and Holland. Cost will definitely be less than Disney's ... and will offer more unique experiences I believe, for you and your entire family.

We're booked aboard the Wonder on the upcoming Panama Canal Halloween cruise from San Diego to Galveston, TX ... (so this will be our fourth Disney cruise in a row) ... but I do believe that trying something "different" will give you a more informed perspective ... good luck

I agree with you on this. After our NCL cruise it is making it hard to even considering a cruise with any cruise line whose initials are not DCL!!! (the ports were AWESOME, the onboard experience fully sucked with NCL!!)

Hmm yeah, was the cost an issue when you were first discussing the cruise? That is a HUGE difference in price from your normal vacation price. Maybe he was upset about that so he didn't allow himself to enjoy the cruise? Just a thought. If he was against the cruise from the beginning it will put him into the mindset to seek out things he didn't like about the cruise.
