I'm not clear on where Mickey's Backyard BBQ is located at Fort Wilderness? Is it in the Settlement area? TIA!
ETA: If you were to go by boat, how long a walk is it from the boat launch area?

Yes, it's in the Settlement area and just a short walk from the boat dock. From the Outpost, just take any internal bus and they all go to the Settlement area, which is again only a short walk to Mickey's BBQ. Hope this helps!
Go early if you can-I think they start feeding people before the official start time. We rode our bikes from the 1900 loop and arrived a little late. (I've never ridden a bicycle in Florida in June. ) It looked like some people were completely finished eating before we even sat down. So then there were people already dancing & meeting characters before we finished eating. (Admittedly, I did not eat quickly; and I started with a popsicle "appetizer" in an attempt to recover from the bike ride. ) The concept of being seated for a Disney meal before the reservation time was a BIG paradigm shift for me!
Here's you a view showing what the others above are referring to.
Above, the blue circle is the boat dock area. Following the blue path leads you to the edge of the porch at Trail's End Restaurant. From there, when you veer right at the porch you'll be looking at the Mickey's BBQ sign roughly about 100 yards in front of you.
The yellow circle is the bus stop at the Settlement area. From there follow the path that leads between the pony petting area and the blacksmith shop. You will come out in front of the stable (a place people like to visit and see some of the horses from Disney World) take a right and follow the path and you will see the large open building to the left which is the BBQ. This path is not paved, rather is made of wood shavings.
