We are flying in to sna and staying at the desert inn and suites. I know there are a lot of options for transportation from buses, taxis and shuttles or rental cars but....

we are a family of 7. Two adults 5 kids ranging from 16 down to five years old.

I would like the transportation option to be prearranged but don't know where to start any suggestions?

also, we are not bringing our booster seats for our two youngest kids, are there booster seat laws in california? both kids are over or at 48 inches and over 50 lbs.

If i were you, if rent a minivan! That's what we did about 6 months ago and there was 7 of us too, also going to the di&s. I want to say it was through thrifty that we rented the van, but I'm not entirely sure on that. Just do a search for cheap rentals and you'll find the best deal! It's much better than shuttles, etc. with that many people. :)

Oh,.and yes, kids do need boosters in Cali, but you can get them already to go in rental cars for a very reasonable price. It's much better than lugging the seats through the airport!!

They will both need boosters for their safety (seatbelts won't fit them) and CA law (they aren't tall or old enough).

But if you take the Disneyland Resort Express *bus*, boosters aren't needed and can't be used, because there are no seatbelts. It's a coach bus. So without bringing boosters, that's your option. It's run by Grayline, they have a website, and their schedules are in PDF form on their website, along with all the info for booking them.

good to know about the boosters

how did it work with your van rental? did you keep it for the whole stay? since we are right across from the resort I don't think we will need it during our stay.

The end of January we'll be flying into SNA and staying DI&S too. There are six in my group. My plan was to take a taxi van, until I came across a deal on a rental car.

When I first looked a rental car for 6 people and luggage, 5days was well into the $500+ range.

I began reading all the threads on rental cars.

Following all the tips, last week I booked a rental car.
It's a mini-van for 7 people for 5days for $227.51!
That includes fees and taxes. If I want the insurance it adds $60.

I'm hoping to find a rental car at an even lower rate before we go.
I look every day now. It has paid off.

What are your dates?

Good luck

I think you can take booster seats on planes at no extra fee. I know if they are used on the plane they have to have a sticker that will say airline use approved. If you decide to take strollers for the 5 year olds those travel on plane at no extra fee. Just so you know if the booster seat is one with the high back those also travel free.

I would go to the airline you are flying on and looks through their web page for any information. Renting a van is a great idea if the price is right. There is a wal-mart store with groceries that is close along with a target. Sure saves on water buying by the case then cooling in the frig. $3 V .25 cents. One bottle for my family each seemed to be plenty. Just drop the water in the bottom of a stroller so they are easy to carry. We traveled with a 5 year old to. She did great walking but she also used the stroller plenty of times during our 6 day stay. Using to get back and forth from hotel to park made the stroller a valuable item.

Have a great trip.

Geemo, we are travelling almost the same dates as you 29th of January until the 4th of february

do you have any kids 12-17?

I have two boys 13 and 16
and three younger kids boys 9yrs, girl 7yrs, boy 5yrs

I'll look into the van rental a little more

Booster seats on plane need to be an approved seat. and as most arent they will be checked bags.. make sure your names are on them aside from the tags they give you, and ask for a plastic bag to put them in.. it can get very dirty getting from you to plane back to you.

if you dont want to take their boosters there is a product called
bubblebum. its an inflatable booster seat that can be taken with you.. lightweight and easy to roll and stow in a small bag..

I have seen them at Target.com and Amazon they go for approx $40.

As a family of 6 when we go we take a Taxi van from the airport. it is approx $40. plus tax. then when we got there we rented a mini van from Alamo for a couple of days to do San Diego etc, it cost round $150.

Have fun :wave2:

Keep in mind, that if you do rent a car, you'll have to pay an additional $8 a day for parking at DI&S.
You can get a limo from American Limo that seats up to 10 for $85, and they will provide boosters if you relay your need.
Prime Shuttle will provide a van that is exclusive to you for about $75, but I don't know if they can provide the boosters. SuperShuttle may be slightly cheaper for the same type of private van.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, we are going to check our two boosters in on the plane and use one of the exclusive van shuttles, it looks to be about 70$ each way for the super shuttle and since we will be the only people in the shuttle we will be able to go directly to our hotel

Aloha,

We go to DL 1-2 times a year and usually stay close to the park. I don't like to drive so I use the Disneyland Resort Express bus. The cost is really low. I believe you can get a family pass for up to 5 people for $99.00 then you can pay the difference for the other two. That cost is round trip so it also covers your trip back to the airport. You can't schedule pick up time but they run like every 30 min at the airports and can tell you when the pick up times are for your return trip. Go to my website www.disneythewrightway.com and go to my phone #'s/website page I have all the info there about the Disney Express bus and I even have links you can click on that takes you directly to there website. The bus is really comfortable, the picture on the outside of the bus is usually Disney themed and they usually play Disney movies on the bus. I hope this helps. I have more tips on my website. It's a free information website, I created it cause my friends & family always ask me for advice when they plan their trips and I got tired of telling them everything so now I just tell them to look at the website, lol. Good luck!

Aloha Zena Wright
