We have Ohana breakfast reservations at 8:45 AM and my husband needs to be at the Bike Barn at Fort Wildnerness by 11:15 AM for his 11:30 segway adventure.

What would be the best way to do this? I pictured taking the monorail to MK and then the boat to Fort Wilderness. I see that the Bike Barn is way in the resort. Anyone know how far? Like half a mile (walkable) or.....?

Thanks!

Are you sure it is the bike barn? I thought the tours meet or used to meet at the BBQ area behind Pioneer Hall. In any case if it is the bike barn he will need to either walk there, about 1/2 mile or walk to the bus stop on the opposite side of PH from the boat dock and board either a yellow or orange bus. Once on the bus tell the driver where you are headed and ask him to tell you the stop. The bike barn does not have its own stop but you can walk to it from several stops.

When I booked the tour, the CM on the phone said something about changing locations and to meet at the Bike Barn. She definitely said Bike Barn.

So it sounds like it is about half a mile. I guess if a bus is there, he can hop it, but if not, that's not too far to walk.

Maybe I could ask you, what would you do with a 4 year old and 20 month old for a couple hours? Are we allowed to see the draft horses? I hear there are playgrounds. Of course, they wouldn't mind just walking around and picking up rocks or something, but I didn't want to find out later that there was petting zoo right around a corner and we missed it.

You could take the monorail to Contemporary and the boat to Fort Wilderness from there as another poster said. There is most definetly a bus to the Meadows Trading Post which is where the Bike Barn is, just ask the driver if they are going to that stop since there are a few different bus routes in the campground. With small children, definetly see the petting zoo which is near Pioneer Hall/ Trail's End (by the marina). Your 4yo can ride a pony and you can all enjoy seeing the animals and the draft horses in the barn. Another activity that is a little more relaxing is to go to Trail's End and relax on the porch. There are many rocking chairs and oversized checkers, chess and connect 4 (I think thats what it was) as well as a nice playground nearby.

Another option is to take a boat from the Poly to MK and then take another boat over to Ft. Wilderness.

I know they moved the golf cart rental to the check in area, so maybe that freed up some space for the segways. As for the kids, yes you can see the draft horses, the barn is near the bus stop. The petting zoo isn't much anymore, but they do still have the ponies. FW has several playgrounds, one buy the beach and several others scattered throughout the campground. You could also look into renting bikes and riding around, FW has limited traffic so it is a nice place to ride around. The Meadows Trading post also has a checker board to kill some time on. I think you can even rent fishing equipment and give that a shot too. Trails End has a resonable lunch buffet, for either before or after the tour. If all else fails, hop on an internal bus and try out each and every playground, you may meet some really nice people at the loop playgrounds.
