Starting the day at MK. Eventually heading to MGM. Where should we park? How do we get from park to park?

Thanks!

I have found it easier to take the Disney bus instead of driving. Park your car at MGM & when finish there, take the bus over to the MK. As long as MGM isn't closing too early, you can get back there by bus as well to pick up your car.

It is better to park where you are ending your day. So park at MGM, take the bus to MK (actually it will drop you off at the TTC where you can either take the monorail or ferry over to MK). Reverse the process to get back to MGM.

There is one caveat. If MK has morning EMH that day (and you want to partake), you would need to drive to MK. When done at MK, take the car to MGM.

If, for whatever reason, you find yourself at the end of the day at one park and your car is at the other park (e.g. you park at MGM, have too much fun at MK and stay there all day), you can take a bus back to the other park (even if the other park has already closed).

Doesn't the bus stop running like 2 hours after the park closes? So if MGM closes at say 7:30 & the MK stays open till 10pm, they may not be able to get a bus back over there???? They will have to double check on the time for the last bus to MGM.

Yes, the busses stop picking up guests at the park two hours after the park closes.

WDW will run busses back to the closed park just for those guests that parked there and went to another park that stayed open later. They will not pick up anybody at the closed park.

Now the problem is that those buses do not run very frequently and they drop you off at the bus depot at the other (closed) park and you have to walk to your car in the dark.

That is why it is recommended that you park your car where you finish your day. But if you don't or can't, there will be transportation back so you can get your car.

Thanks for all the info.

We'll park at MGM, go to MK and then back to MGM.

Also, if you worry about the busses, you can always take a cab back from a park thats still open. We never get a car, and rely only on busses. But everyone once in a while - if we have dinner ressies or would have to take a cab, we get one. Its never been more than $17.

I don't recall seeing them at the MK, but I know for sure I have seen them at the other parks where the busses are.

The cabs for MK are located at the TTC.

lol sounds much easier to just take the bus and forget the car unless you are off site

Most of the time it is. But when it's not, it's REALLY not.

We get a car because we like to go from our resort to others for dinner. That can take up to 90 minutes with the Disney system.

It is also a pain to go to the water parks with all the stuff you need without a car, and is longer with Disney transportation from nearly anywhere.

Also a pain to get groceries without a car. Requires either town car stop, or cab.

We found we need a car just enough to make it worthwhile to get one because of the way we tour. A car reserved in advance does not cost that much when added to 8 days from the West coast. It adds quite a bit of flexibilty for us.

That being said, it is faster to the MK on Disney transportation from nearly anywhere because you need to go to the TTC if you drive. The classic "you can't get there from here" problem. Other parks, DTD, PI, are the same to faster to drive except to main parks from monorail resorts.

Park at the Boardwalk, then take the bus to the MK. When you are leaving the MK take the bus back to the Boardwalk. You can then walk or boat to MGM.
