How to get from Anaheim to Getty Villa Malibu

We will be staying in the Disneyland area and my husband would like to go to the Getty Villa in Malibu. Is this possible with public transportation? If so, how can it be done? He would love to go there and I am hoping that it can be done. Thanks.

Well Malibo is not that close to DL. Taking a taxi would be very costly. I would rent a car.

A car would be most convenient, but it is possible by public transportation.

Start by taking a bus or train to downtown L.A. (you could board the Amtrak Surfliner in Anaheim to Los Angeles).

Then follow these directions from the Getty Villa's website:

From Downtown Los Angeles
From 7th St/Metro Center, take Metro Rapid Bus 720 (direction Santa Monica) to Ocean Ave./Santa Monica Blvd. (approximately 1 hour). Change to Metro Express bus 534 (direction Malibu) to the Getty Villa/Coastline Drive stop (approximately 20 minutes).​
