how to get from airport to DL

I am flying into John Wayne airport and need to get over to the hotel I still haven't chosen but will be within walking distance from the parks.
I have read about a service that will pick up and drop off but the reviews were terrible. It was written as SS, so I don't know the name of the company. People wrote that they charge $40 each way but they didn't say if that was per person or for the group. There will be 2 of us.
I didn't want to rent a car but found one for $139 for the 5 days we will be there. with average of $15 a day for parking I am looking at an extra $75 for parking. should I get a car? Is there much that I would need a car for that would be better than staying close to the hotels?
I do plan on going to Trader Sams at least one night but we want to do the parks as much as we can since this might be my only trip to CA.

We booked a couple things through GetAwayToday.com. They had options for a shuttle bus to and from the airport. I think it was Express? It was $9 per person each way.

Super shuttle is quick, easy and reliable. If you use a shared van its $10 per person to Disneyland Hotel. If you want your own van the charge is $67 one way.
