Hello!

I'm the oldest daughter of two parents who aren't obsessed with disney like i am. my other 3 sibilings aren't either. it's coming up on 99 days until we leave (tommorow) and i wanted to throw a party. do you think that will make them more excited? Any help would be appreciated!

How about gathering up some disney trivia about the parks or hidden mickey pictures or information? My family loves that kind of stuff.

Parties are always a good idea in my book. :thumbsup2 Have fun and I hope you convert a few people.

Have you got the planning DVD? It is a great way to get excited! My kids and I love it and I took it in the car on the way to WDW last time and that was really fun. (We didn't need any help getting excited however.)

When my family was considering a Disney cruise, we all got the DVD and everyone was immediately convinced and counting down the days.

:wave2: Hello Courtney! I kinda have the opposite problem. I am a parent with a teenage daughter that is not so excited! I have been recording Disney shows on my Tivo for them to watch (of couse you could also rent them or pull out some old ones you already have. We are watching "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" right now. Watched "Swiss Family Robinson" the other day. It is an old one, but we really enjoyed it! Or get them to take you to Pirates at the movie theater now!

I have ordered matching shirts for the family. Maybe you could pick some out and see if you could convince the 'rents to consider them.

I am also going to get window clings to decorate the car windows and write, "Disney or Bust" on the back window!

I went to the library and checked out all of their guide books (sorry to other folks who might be looking for them). Birnbaum's Official Guidebook has lots of pictures, you could show them.

I really think Excitement is Contagious! Whatever you do, don't let them get you down!

Our family (DH, DS11, DS9mo) heads to Disney at least once a year. We get very excited about the trips and I think that has rubbed off on our families. They generally wish they were going with us on each trip and have in the past almost joinned us at the last minute. Excitement is very contagious in our case.

We have planned a 1st birthday trip to WDW in October for our youngest and have invited our parents and my sister along. They are all getting excited already with 79 Days 6 Hrs 38 Mins 58 Secs left before we leave. I have been sending out occasional e-mails with the countdown to our trip and include trivia, pictures from our past trip of us having fun, places we will be visiting, etc. The e-mails are usually fun and entertaining and they have really enjoyed them. Whenever we get together we usually bring up the trip and usually always ask if there is anything they would like to be included in the plans. Letting them be a part of the planning tends to get them excited and keep them interested. Be careful with this though, it may open another whole bag of worms...(for planning natzies). Since I am the planning fanatic and have planned something for everyone, they have only come up with Whispering Canyon (which I actually already had planned :rolleyes1 ). They sugessted it because of all the stories we have told them from our past visits.

So I suggest getting    about the trip yourself and hopfully they will follow!

Disclaimer... Do try to keep it subtle so you don't turn them off to the idea. Our parents have been through years of conditioning to our Disney obsession and really aren't phased by our banana dance any more... ;)

Edit: DH has informed me that it is a "can of worm", but I believe I prefer the bag...

Get the planning video, see if the library has the guidebooks, and throw the party with all the Disney Stuff, see if you can get them to get a Disney themed game (We have Disney Monopoly, there are many others). I'd say the free planning video is your best bet though.

how about one night a week before you go make it Disney movie night! You can do trivia and the hidden Mickey's too! Find out what is each ones favorite disney character and get some info on each one! That way you can give them some great info they never knew before.

Maybe look into making a scrap book for each one doesn't have to be a big one but part of your planning and take a quote from each one each day of your vacation so they can always remeber the magic!

Yeah, get the new DVD make them sit down and watch it with you. Im sure once they see what they got there, and all the happy people having fun lol they will be more into it. Don't worry when you get there they will be more hyped up then you think they would be. My parents are the same, they are calm as me and my brother, and sister in law talk about it so much. Once they get there they are more into it :goodvibes
