How to get Early Entry to Disneyland?

Hi - Just wondering how one can get early entry to Disneyland with a regular hopper pass? I know if you stay at one of the Disneyland hotels, you can get early entry (everyday, or just one day of your stay?), but is there anyway you can get early entry regardless of where you stay?

I remember years ago when I went last, I got early entry one day - just with a regular 3-day pass. It was really beneficial (got all of toon town done in one hour!). With our kids, we'll probably buy a 5 or 6 day hopper pass, so we can do everything a bit more leisurely. I am just hoping we can get one day at early entry...?

If you get a 3 day PH you get one MM. If you get a longer duration PH still just the one MM.

yep...a few years back we had the 3-day park hopper and got 1 MM. it was GREAT!!!!
it was the year the Finding Nemo submarine voyage opened, and everyone RAN to that line!!
During the afternoon, the line was over 3hrs long at some points!!

How do the multi-day passes work? Is there a name attached to it, or is it just punched/date-stamped?

Let's say you have two early risers in the family (me and DS). Could we work it so we use early entry twice, and let DH and DD sleep in both those mornings?

It's actually encoded onto the ticket. When you use a ticket for entrance during MM, it will deduct it from the ticket automatically. So technically, if you remember which tickets you used, you could do that strategy. However, that would also technically be breaking the "non-transferable" rule. In a year (2 years?), it will not be possible because of the biometric finger scanners that WDW already uses. But as of right now, it is possible but frowned upon.
