How to get DDE

We are planning a June trip and I am going planning to get an AP and would like to get DDE also. Since we live out of state, I think the only way to get the AP is to order off the website. It says they will issue me an exchange voucher which we can exchange when we arrive.

Now how do I get DDE to use on my trip? All I will have is an exhange voucher. Is it possible to get DDE by phone with an exchange voucher? If not, can I go to guest services my first day at the park and get it? Or is it just not possible to get it this fast?

I would be willing to activiate my AP earlier to get the DDE before the trip but don't know how to do it from a distance. Is there any way around this?

Yes, you can order DDE with only your voucher number. I just got my DDE in the mail today and won't activate the AP until our trip in May. You can have your DDE mailed to you or have it held for pick up. It takes about 4-6 weeks to get it in the mail. Hope that helps!

Just don't order it too early the expiration date is the month you order it. Unless you don't plan on returning feb-jun next year.

The DDE makes perfect sense for our family (DH, DS-18, DD-16, me) and I can't wait to use it this trip! I'll be calling in soon as well with our APs for June/July at WDW. Make your dining reservations now for a summer stay. I didn't have any problem getting what I wanted when I wanted it.

Ok... whats the difference between the DDE and the Disney Dining Plan thru Disney?

The "Dining Plan" is the pre-paid plan that includes 1 table service, 1 counter service, and 1 snack per day (based on the number of nights in your hotel.) The cost is $38 per adult and $11 pe child per night of your stay, and must be booked for the wntire stay. The DDE is a discount card for 20% off virtually all table service/buffet meals at Disney operated restauants, as well as counter service at Value Resorts and Animal Kingdom. The DDE is only available to Annual Passholders and Florida residents. DDE-AP price is $60 for 1 year, and is good for up to 10 people in your party. FL residents (non-AP) price is $85.
