How to get character signatures?

We return to Aulani later this month and this time we decided that we'd like to get character signatures on a surfboard-shaped cutting board that we already acquired. In the past, we've only ever done photographs with the characters at Aulani, mostly as part of the Makahiki character breakfast. Sorry if this is a silly question, but having never asked for a character autograph before, what is the protocol for that? Thanks!

You can hand them the little surfboard when it’s your turn to meet. You may need to bring a marker. I think Duffy, ShellieMay, and Olu cannot sign autographs because their hands can’t grip a pen.
