How to get banked points and current correct??

We bought DVC points resale back in July/Aug that came with 2010 banked points. I made a reservation at HHI for next spring using some of the banked points.

I have been trying to book a Thanksgiving 2011 trip and planned to cancel the HHI trip, if I was successful. I want to keep all current points to hopefully bank and use next year for a trip to Aulani.

I have made/modified and cancelled many times over the past few weeks, but have finally been able to "piece" together a Thanksgiving trip and not have to move multiple times . I knew starting that it might not work out and had a reservation at Fort Wilderness as a backup.

How do I get the points out of the "banked" allocation and returned to the "current" allocation? When I talked to the rep at MS earlier today to cancel the HHI reservation, she said that she had moved "all she could".

My account still shows that some of the points being used have been taken from my current points. The the number of banked points I have(had) would more than cover the entire Thanksgiving stay.

Is there someone besides MS that I need to talk to to get this changed?

I'm not sure, but I think banking is a final transaction. If you bank points, then need them for a reservation, MS will take all current points and even borrow points from next year, but still leave your other points banked. I know this sounds crazy! Hope this helps.

I believe banked points cannot be "unbanked", so you will have to use them in the use year they have been banked to.

I'm not wanting to "unbank" the points. I want the reservations I currently have to all be taken from the banked 2010 points and not from my current 2011 points.

Took the survey after my last conversation with MS rep. Left a message for a manager to return my call to hopefully be able to assist in getting points allocated corectly.

Manager called me back, she had reviewed my account prior to returning my call and has reallocated the points. Now my November trip is using all banked points and I have my full allocation of points for my current Oct 2011 points.

Glad you got that worked out! I had to cancel a reservation and rebook last spring, and MS didn't use the borrowed points first. So, I ended up with points that would expire in Nov. I didn't know you could talk to MS and have them reallocate your points. I thought MS would use the borrowed points first and leave the other points in my account. Should I have called them to fix it? Is that what you did?

I'm not sure how they use points when "borrowed" points are available. My problem was also the result of cancelling a reservation. In my case, I had "banked" 2010 points that I wanted to be sure were used before any current 2011 UY points were used. I plan to bank some of my 2011 points for a trip to Aulani in 2012.

If you have questions, I'd call member services and ask them to explain. I would think any borrowed or banked points should be used first. Good luck.

I know they try to use up banked points first and my try to use borrowed, but I would always make that clear when you are on the phone with them and then check your account afterwards.

If you find that they did not, then yes, I would call back and ask that the borrowed points be used first--providing those points are eligible for the new trip, you certainly do want to ensure those are used so any current UY points can be banked.

Thank You for the reply! I guess I thought once MS had used the points, it was a done deal. I didn't know they could go back and change it. I'll remember it for the future!
