Title says it: because of the extremely high rental fees when we are going to WDW, ($500 a week for Economy):sad2: we are taking ME. I know DS, 24, with autism will be craving McDonalds and wondered what you did, or if you went.

Hate to take a cab for a $12 meal.:rotfl2:

Well, since there is no McDonald's left on property, your two choices would be a cab ride or public transit. Either way, you will be taking a considerable amount of time out of your vacation.

there is still a McDonalds out by the AllStars Resorts. Near Blizzard Beach, just off Osceola Pkwy.

I was really wondering if that is walkable from All Stars.

This is the one near EPCOT and AK: 1596 West Buena Vista Drive
Lake Buena Vista, FL 32830. Use Google maps to see if it is walkable from AS. Good luck!

As far as I am aware, this is now El Pollo Campo, Disney kicked all McDonald's off property a while back.

how about renting a car for a day or 2 in the middle of vacation. not sure of company but one on site will pick you up from what i have read. if not i am guessing a cab ride there and back. not sure how it would work with having to order food if cab would wait for you. if you are eating there, you would then have to get another cab back to your resort.

Check Dollar's "City Special" for LOCAL locations near WDW. I don't know exactly when you are going, but I looked for Christmas week which generally has the highest priced cars. The local Kissimmee location (near 192 & International Dive South) has a Compact for $199 (inc taxes) for 12/22-12/28 while the same car is $358 from the airport. I believe that the local location will pick you up, but I would call and make sure.

Budget over on Hotel Blvd (you can walk or maybe even take the Hotel Blvd resort bus or they also might pick you up) has a Compact for the same dates for $211 using the DISBoards code Y937800. You might be able to find a $$ off coupon to add to that or an upgrade somewhere. And advantage to Budget is that they don't charge a drop off fee, so you can pick up near Disney and drop off at MCO.

I wasn't sure we could walk if we took a bus to All Stars. I do know this McDonalds was still serving food as of October when we were there.

If you are staying at one of the All Star resorts ($500 a week is a great price, BTW, for 7 nights, if that includes all taxes) then you can walk to the McDonald's, as there is a sidewalk. If you are not staying at an All Star resort, you can take a bus to the All Stars from a park, and then walk.

Yes, you can walk to the McDonalds near AllStars from the resotr property. The mousekeepers do too as that is where their parking lot must be as they are always walking back & forth & crossing at the light. Sports would be closest to McDonalds. $500/week is very steep for a rental car, however, I would keep checking as you get closer. I have found the price to drop significantly as you get closer to your arrival date. I have re-booked reservations on way to airport for best pricing. Usually, but not always, airport fees & taxes make picking up car on WDW property much less expensive & with National & Alamo, that I know of, you can return at airport without paying a drop fee.

the $500 is the price for the car.:furious: Never paid that much before.

Thanks for the info. As long as I know there is a sidewalk, we can do this.

Thanks for the help, everyone. On our non-park day, we will take a bus to the All Stars and walk up to McDonalds. Unless the car rental rates come down between now and March, in which case we can go every day to McD's.

It is not walkable. It's not far down the road maybe a mile or so but there are no sidewalks by the resort (at least none that I saw the two times I stayed there) and walking by the side of the road is also a no go as 1. you don't want to be hiking through the grassy areas because that's where the snakes live and 2. you can't walk on the roads as there are blind areas and cars traveling at high speed.

There IS a McD's at the airport. Pre buy some nuggets or bugers and microwave them later is the only alternative to a cab.

However they DO sell burger and fries at the food courts and you could just let him eat that, with a stop at McD's airport the two times you are there.
