We will be at WDW for 16 days. At this point we are not renting a car. But if we could get a very good rate on a car rental we might change our minds. How can I get THE BEST car rental rate. We need at minimum a "standard" car.

What is the lowest rate you have every gotten, when, where, how much??

hi

try www.mousesavers.com

they have a special right now for Dollar Car Rental - 50% off a jeep rental

dollar car rental is economical and their p\u location is right in the airport

lisa :o

Jake is that a 'weekly' rate or XX.XX per day? DD & I will be flying in 2004 but probably spending 16 nites. Next week will be my first experience in actually renting a car (3 days in Birmingham) and I have IDIOT stamped across my forehead when it comes to this!

I know its a long way off but I'll need to start getting myself ready for this (at least calculating a budget).

jgates, that is the rate for 8 days, using a code that gave 50% off. If you are budgeting to rent a car for 16 days you are probably looking at $800 or more for the 16 days. I looked into it for our trip and even at 50% off, it was over $400.

Thanks for the tip. I just changed my previous ressie with Dollar for a compact car for 3 days, and got the SUV for the same time period at about $30 cheaper. Since I own a SUV, I'd prefer driving one in Orlando over a compact car.

WDW2002, I'm no expert, but I think $400 sounds pretty reasonable for 16 days. You might be able to do better on Priceline, but you take the risk of having it be any car rental agency. I bid on a car on Priceline once, and while I got it for about $15 a day, I had to go off airport property to pick up the car, which was a pain and not worth my savings.

Is that $400 for the 16 days???
If so ......what type of car? What rental company and does it include the tax etc???
and IMHO.....that is a great rate!:)
I would grab that rate......that is $25 per day.....that is pretty cheap. Unless you want to end up with a klunker from some fly by night rental company.

Good Luck:)

Another option would be to rent a car for only part of the time you are there. If you rent from Dollar and rent at one of the hotels at downtown disney, the rate is cheaper than it would be if you were to rent it at the airport. It is also cheaper if you rent it on the weekend.

So, even if you pay the 80 dollars for the car service and then rent a car for lets say a weekend it would still be cheaper than it would be to keep it for the 16 days.

I agree that $400 is GREAT!! for 16 days but it is still too much for us, when Disney transportation is free. I am basically trying to find an impossiblely low rate. :) We don't "need" a car, we are not planning on going offsite. I was just thinking it would be nice to have one to do resort hopping.

This rate is 50% off a jeep at dollar, mousesavers.com listed it on their site.

If you are willing to take a chance...
I rented a compact through continental car rental(they have a website). I got 9 days for $173(that included the taxes). It was offsite, but the pickup was fast. These are not luxury cars. I got a ford escort with 40K on it, but it worked fine for us.

what exactly are you getting when you say 50 per cent off ???
of a "jeep" or a suv ??? make & model ???

There was a code (& paper coupon) to use to get the price but from what I understand all the jeeps in Orlando are booked.

We're planning a last minute trip and I got a great deal at National. I have an Emerald club card ( I think you can get one through the disneyclub and a couple other places) I used a nhol code in the product rate box. I got a full size car for 166.58 a week and 27.76/day. starting on 12/18 over Christmas. I was amazed --- All the other sites I checked were $300+ for a compact.

I got a car from priceline, Hertz, 28.00 a day for 13 days. It is during the holiday (Dec/Jan) and I was getting high quotes so I took the plunge! I'm not sure if it is a great deal or not? It is a full size car, 13 days, 450.00 includes taxes & fees. They really nail you with taxes and fees (87.00) on my receipt.

I started bidding at 25.00 per day but no luck until I hit the magic number 28.00!

Try Travelocity, I have been getting quotes for like $160 a week or so for their compact cars. Also AAA has been quoting me $156 a week for a compact car like a KIA plus taxes.
