How to get a discount Value Resort May

I need to stay at a value resort for my first night's stay at WDW. I'll be checking in later in the day and checking out first thing in the morning to Wilderness Lodge. I am not a Florida resident and don't have an AP. Is there any other way to get a discount off the $109 rate. In order to take advantage of the free shuttle we have to stay in a Disney resort.

If you have AAA you can try for a discount - I was quoted $84.00 at Pop Century in May with a AAA discount - not great but better than $109 - I am keeping my eyes open for May codes - if I can get a good deal I may upgrade

Also I may be wrong but I think that you can ride the buses even if you are not staying onsite if you have a multi day Park Hopper. The Park Hopper entitles you to bus service throughout Disney.
