Ok, we're going to be at WDW this July and it is our 1st trip w/our then 15mth DS. I know it will be hot. It gets very hot and humid here in OH also. This is what I was thinking. I was going to put him in the one piece short outfits for the morning and day. The little ones w/sleeves and shorts, but they don't have a waist band. I thought these would be very cool and comfortable. I saw some that were the tank top type. I didn't buy any of these. He will of course have sunscreen on, but I thought that it might still be too much to have his shoulders exposed like that. Am I thinking correctly on this? Od would the kind without sleeves be better?

In the evening is when I figured I'd put him in his cute little outfits. Thanks for your help!

I think that one-piece rompers sound fine for July. I like the short-sleeved ones better too because it's a little more coverage for outside and also inside when in the air conditioning. We also carry a light sweater and receiving blanket for DD in the diaper bag for when we're in air conditioning. Also, 100% cotton fabrics are always best as far as staying cool.
Hope that helps! :)

My DD was 13 months when we went last year and will be 2 for a month when we go this year. What we did (and will do again) is both sleeveless and short sleeves (cotton) and lighter colored fabrics. She wouldn't wear a hat or sunglasses so we just used the stroller shade. We put sunscreen on before we left the room and applied again a few more times. We found it to be VERY, VERY hot and humid (I'm origianlly from PA, but live in VA now..and it's hotter here than in PA (IMO)) As soon as I walked out the door sweat was dripping from my face so I only put eyeliner on after that day! Get one of those spritz bottles (we bought ours at the park)..you put water in it and it's attached to a battery operated fan (blades made out of foam-so they don't hurt) spritz all of yourseves regularly. Also..to keep your toddler cool...get a small foam-bladed fan (battery operated) that has a clip and clip it to the stroller shade and direct the air towards your child. It helped so much last year and everyone kept looking at it and saying what a great idea it was. I lost mine, but all of us are getting our own little fan to carry around and keep us cool! Also, plenty of ice water. Sorry for the long post..but after going there in Jan and Feb the previous years..we were in heat shock when we went in July. HTH

Another thing, this is just me, but I always use a 2 pc outfit in case of an accident then I only need to change the bottoms and not the whole outfit.

There are certain things you need to do in the south in the summer. Southern states are very different from northern states in terms of type of heat and humidity. Especially gulf states. I'm Chicago born and bred, but I've been living off the gulf for quite some time so I really KNOW the differences.

Dress in light clothing. Light material and light colors. Don't layer--ie, skip the onsie and just put on the shortalls.

Wide brim hat and baby sunglasses.

sunscreen

I have clip on fans for the stroller. I also have a sunshade; a big breathable thing that goes over the stroller like a rain cover that has holes in it (DS4 says it doesn't block the view) and keeps out the UV rays. It also manages to keep the stroller cooler. A big, light, breatheable (sp?) blanket while baby is sleeping would also work.

Lots of liquids.

Enjoy those inside attractions during the heat of the day if you don't go back to your room for naps/swimming. That's what Hall of Presidents was made for! Really, Buzz, Carasoul of Progress, Festival of The Lion King, and many, many other rides work wonderful for this.

That's all I can think of for now. I hope that helps.

Do not underestimate the burning power of the Florida sun :sunny: . My sister spent her only trip to WDW in her hotel room in the air conditioning with ice packs and cold wet towels on her back and shoulders while waiting for the blisters to break. Unfortunately, she managed to do all this damage on day one and her vacation was ruined. She was in her early 20's at the time and should have known better.

Don't forget a hat or stroller canopy. The July sun is brutal!

I also kept a washcloth in a baggy, and would wipe my little ones down with it after running it under cold water. This really helped keep them cool.
