How to do FP+ if offsite?

Ok we have not taken a trip since FP+ started so this is all new and foreign to me. Then add in the fact that we've ended up renting a house so we are staying off site and I just have no idea how to even start.

I'm planning to buy the FL Resident seasonal pass. Do I do this ahead? Can I book without the actual tickets?
