how to dispose of magic bands?

Ours will be two years old when we return. The CM said they only last a year. How do we properly throw them away? Are they okay in a landfill or do they go to electronics recycling?

I would put them in the electronic recycling. In my opinion that is better than the landfill.

I've seen mention that Disney may recycle them...I need to look in to that.

With the technology being RFID the magnet would not do anything to the band. You do however have the option to go into My Disney Experience and deactivate the band so it is not longer associated with your profile.
