DH came home from the grocery store yesterday with a pkg of these..I don't know how to cook them...

Any good recipes

our version is called "Country Style Steak". First, you flour, salt and pepper your meat and brown it in a pan with a bit of vegetable oil. Take it out after browning, reserve the drippings and keep the heat at med-med high. Add enough flour to make sort of a roux, let it brown while whisking to prevent any lumps and then add a mixture of milk and water to bring it to the consistency of gravy that you like. Add the meat back to the gravy mixture and let simmer on low until meat is fork tender. If you like onions, add them when you brown the meat or wait until it is simmering and they will cook down also. Yum! If you are a Food Network Fan, you may have seen Paula Deen do this on "Paula's Home Cooking". You can go to the website and find her recipe there.

I bet if you put them in a crock pot they would come out pretty darn good.

A recipe I use for the crock like this would be to add the beef, onions, peppers, salt/pepper and a jar of brown gravy. Make some white rice on the stove top and put mixture on top...

Hey... Now I want it!!! :teeth:

I cook them in a hot pan on med-high heat ina little olive oil and garlic, some kosher salt and course bllack pepper and make sandwiches.

I like to cook them with garlic and sherry. When they're almost done, I add a can of cream of mushroom soup to make a gravy.

Alton Brown just did a show on this the other day! :happytv:

We usually use cubesteak to make Chicken Fried Steak.

You dredge the steak in seasoned flour, then an egg wash, then more seasone flour and throw it in a pan with a little EVOO and let it cook till it's good-n-done. Place the cooked steaks into a 250 degree oven to keep them warm while you use the drippings, fond (brown bits on the bottom of the pan), a touch more flour and some milk to make cream gravy. :)

I brown them in a pat of butter for each piece of meat; threw in a can of stewed tomatoes, onion slices, green pepper strips, salt, pepper, a splash of Worchestershire sauce, and sometimes a can of mushrooms. Simmer for 30-45 minutes. Had this last night with corn on the cob. Yum!

Sometimes I season them with Season-All, then fry them. Sometimes I cook them in beef bouillion cubes.

Country Fried Steak, baby! Ummm, umm good!!

Happy to see these other recipes though, may have to try one.
(Country Fried Steak is a little messy and a bit of work for a summertime meal.)

I have a super easy receipe-flour and lightly brown the steak-place in slow cooker with golden mushroom soup (maybe 2 cans depending on how much steak) and 1/2 can of water per can of soup. I cook on high for several hours and then turn down to low for another couple. This is one of my husbands favorites.

I dredge them in flour, pan sear them in light olive oil and then remove them from the pan. I then fry up peppers and onions and add sauce to it (either homemade or jarred) and add the meat back it and simmer away until it's pretty much falling apart. Serve it with a salad and some italian bread, the whole family loves it.

Wow, I can't believe this. That is what we had for supper tonight. I made them in my George Forman with a little steak seasoning.

I salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder them. Spray my non-stick skillet with Pam. Cover the steaks while they cook until brown, then flip them over to other side for browning. Take them out of the skillet. Mix up some Pioneer country gravy in the skillet. Put the steaks back in and cover. Let them simmer on low for about 15 to 20 minutes. Your family will be kissing your feet when they taste how wonderful and fork tender these are! Serve with mashed potatoes.

My mom always cooked them in the electric skillet and put tomato sauce over them. THen cut up some potatoes and added them in later. This makes the BEST potatoes. Meat is good too........but the potatoes are to die for.
