How to choose which value resort?

We have a large family group going in November 08...since my dad is picking up the tab for everyone, and we have heard good things about value resorts, we will be staying in one of those.

How do you choose which value resort to stay in? Themes you like, or are there more practical considerations that come into play? i.e do some have better food courts, easier transportation to the parks, preferred layouts, that sort of thing? What makes one better than another?

We stayed at Movies in January, and will be staying at Pop in September... that said, for a big group, music has the newly renovated family suites that would be a good option.
I think they all have similar themes, and bus services depends a great deal on the time of year you travel. Pop does not share a bus, but it's also the largest of the values.

Thank you! When you say Pop doesn't "share a bus" you mean it doesn't stop at other resorts on the way back and forth to the parks? Is it being the largest of the values a plus or a minus?

We choose based on theme. I've liked both Music and Movies. The downside about staying at Movies is that sometimes the All-Stars share buses. On a shared bus Movies is the last stop.

This trip we are trying POP. Again, we chose based on theme. (Plus it is the only value I've never stayed at.)

All Star Music is my favorite resort. It tends to be the quietest of all the values.

All Star Music just completed a refurbishment of all of the rooms and ithe refubishment was just compled June 2007.

The rooms were freshly painted, they got new carpets, new furniture, new bedding, new bedpreads and curtains a bowed shoer curtain in the tub and privacy cutains between the sleeping area and the vanity (just like the mods have) so you can use that area as a little dressing if you choose.

.

Here is a website with photos of the newly refurbished rooms at All Star Music.

Look at the Jazz Inn section with new posted:

Please see my info thread for more of the reasons why I enjoy All Star Music so much.

The All Star busses stop at all the All Star resorts, for the most part when traveling to/from parks. I did not mind it in January. The longest ride was to MK, maybe 15 minutes. Not a big deal at all.

On the way back to the hotel at night, the buses are crowded, but my 4 year old loved it, so we loved it!

I'm looking forward to Pop, it's the newest, but the are renovating the All Stars. Pop does not stop at other resorts.

DH and I stayed in a Family Suite at All Star Music ( a value resort) last Sept. (2006)

We really enjoyed the Queen size bed, the kitchenette with the microwave, having a sofa and cushioned chair to sit on and relax after a day at the parks before retiring for the evening.

I thought the pullouts very comfortable.

They are designed so the back cushion and seat cushion of the pullout support the pullout. There is no meatle bar to hurt the sleepers back.

I was hoping Linda would post on this thread for you. She has such great info about Music!

Linda, thanks for so much helpful info! My husband & 2 teenage sons are making a quick 4 night trip in April, and that sounds perfect.

2 questions.....
First, what are the average prices for a suite?
Secondly, what do you mean by a preferred room?

Thanks!

You are most welcome.:)

The Suites run $179 a night during value season in 2007.

Here are the 2007 prices for the Disney resorts for 2007:

Preferred rooms at the values (they cost $12 more a night) are determined because of the location of the buildings not the view.

Preferred location means the buildings are the nearest to the main pool, food court , and bus stop.

Preferred room = less walking to and from your room.
