How to "check in" a spouse at terminal?

The plan is for my husband to drop us off at the terminal, then get a shuttle and join us. I have seen reports of people checking in their entire party when the entire group was not there and I don't understand how that would work. DH needs to keep his photo id to get into the terminal, but the DCL CM needs to see id to check him in. Am I missing something?

If it involves checking the rest of us in, then he would check in separately later, then I think we will just sit until he gets there and all go at once. I have no desire to get to the front of the line (we got in line about five minutes before boarding began and I feel sure that we were onboard less than five minutes after the first person in that awful line on the cold, hard floor) so I don't see any advantage to checking in separately or unless I am missing how I can truly check him in without him being there??

We did the same thing and checked my husband in, but I had his passport and he had his drivers license. Without a second photo id, he would hve to pick up his own card/boarding pass, I think. I'm not sure if he could just go right up to the counter to get it???

Hello...we just got back from the 4 day Wonder, and my husband dropped us off and took the Budget shuttle back to port. He had all of his own paperwork (his driver's license, his birth certificate, his cruise docs, and his immigration form.) I checked in with our three kids and went on up to the buffet, and he joined us a little later, with no problem at all. It was very smooth and efficient, and he had no problem checking in solo. (I think the Disney people are used to this arrangement; they didn't even blink an eye.)

I hope this helps.

My dh dropped me off and I checked him in without any id, because he needed his Drivers License to get into the bldg. But what the CM had us do is for him to go directly to her when he came in to show her his ID and get his stuff. And that worked out really well, as he didn't have to wait in any lines that way!

We plan to do that with my husband, he can keep his license, I will keep his passport, will he need his ticket to get into the port, or should I keep it to register him?

We had done this several times. DH drops us off and returns the rental car. We all go into the terminal. I present all of the documents including his passport. They print up all of our KTTW cards and hold his at the counter. When he arrives he just goes up to the person who checked us in and they verify his id and give him his card. It is very easy.

We did the same as NyGiants. Just keep everything for your spouse except what the curb-side CM tells him to keep, in our case DH's drivers license. I took his passport and all his docs. We all checked in, the CM keeps his docs, then he presented his ID and recieved his docs from the same agent. We all boarded together so we could get our picture taken and be announced together. If you arrive before boarding he can join you in line. If he arrives after the line is gone, just hang in the terminal until he arrives. Depends on whether you need to race for Palo ressies and the like or prefer to be photographed and announced together.

I guess our CM let us off easy. Last year, DH dropped us off and returned the car. I checked us in without presenting any type of documentation for my DH. I got his KTTW card and he didn't have to go to the counter when he arrived.

How did your dh know what agent checked you in? Or can he just go to anyone?

We just got back on Saturday- VERY EASY PROCESS!

DH dropped us off. He kept his DL, I took EVERYTHING else. He left. We went inside....checked in. Each agent is at a sequentially numbered station, so she/he will say to come back to #X and you can tell DH to get his KTTW card at station #X.

I will say that the guy at the front of the line telling you which agent to is available (like a little traffic cop), first said that I had to have all adults present. I said, "But DH is dropping off a rental car, please!" And he let me through.

I found out that you need to trust what is told to you on the boards! don't take your first no as your answer. Ask again - even at guest services .... several times I was told no, I asked again politely and they said okay! (One thing I'm refering to here is the signing of pillow cases.)

If I can't actually complete the process for the entire family, then the kids and I will just hang out on the comfy sofas and wait for DH then check in together. He would not feel comfortable bypassing the line to pick up his KTTW card.

No biggie, and I think it both safer and more logical that he be required to be identified before his card is issued.

My wife tried to check me in last cruise. I almost made it onto the ship but it was so darn hot in the duffle bag I had to yell to let me out.
I've told her I'm not doing it that way this year. I'm standing in line like everyone else!!!

Cheers,
Grumbo ;)
