how to change a reservation without losing one?

If I have a reservation for a day and time but want to try and get a different one, can I book the new one before I can cel the old one. I thought I read that you cannot book two for the same day (double booking in effect). I don't want two, I just want to change for a better if possible without losing thye first.

When you find a new ADR you like better, go ahead and reserve that one. When you make it, you will be told you have conflicting ADRs and you be asked to chose the one you want to keep. Just select the new one and the old one will be cancelled and the new one made.
