How to cancel the DDP?

Hi,

We are nonmembers who rented a 2 night stay from a DVC member. At the time of booking we requested they add the DDP. We now do not need the DDP but can not reach the DVC owner to ask them to cancel it. Can anyone tell me how we can do this?

Thanks

The only way to cancel is for the member to cancel, as they own the reservation.

I don't know about that. The amount on the DDP is due at check-in and the renter may be able to cancel when they get there.

Personally, I would be very nervous if I could not reach the DVC member. OP, did you give them enough time to get back to you?

you might get a CM at check in that would allow it, but it is not policy.

You may be able to call the resort directly a few days prior to arrival when the reservation should be in their system and ask them to remove the DDP - otherwise, contacting the member you rented from may be your only option.

Good luck!

according to MS you can add the DDP up to 4 days of arrival, once the DDP is added you can not take the DDP off the ressie, because the DDP is already charged to your ressie, that you will have to pay for the day you check in.
As far as you being a renter, you will not be able to contact MS, MS is not suppose to give you any info about your ressie. If you contact the resort before you arrive they will only tell you that MS added the dining and that they cannot remove DDP from your ressies and if you have any questions to contact MS. but again you are not a DVC member and will not be able to contact MS, good luck, personally the dining is well worth the cost and you wont be disappointed.;)

Wow . . . I had never been told that by MS. That's really interesting, albeit a little unreasonable. :confused3

That may be what they say, but I have taken it off the day before with no issue. (It became apparent that due to flight changes I wasn't going to really make my dinner reservation and it wasn't going to be worth it!) MS was fine and made no comment.
(I would be more concerned that the OP can't get in touch with the landlord!)

When we were there in June of this year, I was expressively told by MS that you could NOT remove it once it was added. She made sure at least twice that I was certain I understood their policy.

Fortunately we did use it and had waaay too much food. :) We gave 6 of our counter services away....nothing like spreading the magic...:)

I would double check the policy on that...they sure were firm with me on it.

have a great time,

As with all things Disney there is policy which most will adhere to which is what wdwstar posted and you then have some CMs that will go around the policy which is what Carol posted.

This is not to say that all CMs will do that though and if I had to hazard a guess they will more likely do it for a member than someone renting.

You can take it off the reservation but you are supposed to do it prior to checkin. I am not sure what the deadline is, but there is a date by which you are supposed to cancel if you don't want it. I've never been told that once you add it, you can't remove it at any time.

Policy is that you are not supposed to be able to add or remove it at check-in.

Hopefully you will be able to contact the member.

That is what I've been told by MS too....prior to checkin.
