How to buy DVC APs

Bluecruiser....you cannot use the number on the back of the plastic card...you have to use your confirmation number on the paperwork. I tried the same thing then realized I needed to use the confirmation number and it worked perfectly.

Also you cannot order a Magic Band for your Annual Pass until you actually activate it at the park then you can order one after. It takes 5 to 10 days to ship them to your home

The day you exchange the voucher.

Note to those without vouchers, if you're converting a pre-used 14 day expiration pass at the window into an AP it will be backdated to start the day you first used that pass to enter a park.
So you can convert a 4 day park hopper to a DVC annual pass at the park as long as you use it first? I knew you could convert to regular AP but wasn't sure about getting the DVC discounted price. Also I read you have to show your card-would you be able to show your member # and stuff printed off website? We just bought resale and have a short trip coming up not sure if we will have our card mailed to us in time but I think we will be in the system

Yes, typically we will buy our hoppers off of a third party website such as UndercoverTourist, go through the gate once, come back out and immediately have them bridged to DVC APs. Do your math beforehand so you know what the price should be. Some CMs know how to do it, others don't and will insist it can't be done. (Just thank them, cancel the transaction and take your hoppers to another window.) If they won't take your member number as printed from the website, go to SSR's sale center (call first so you don't waste time.) I've had my card printed up by them when I first bought, so I know they can do it. I also got a second card in the mail same as the first but with a different logo layout.

Thanks. We bought ours from AAA because we wanted to make fast pass selections and to be perfectly honest were't even sure we'd officially be members in time if the closing got delayed. Since we closed on time we are hoping to be in the system by this coming week but sounds like it can take alot longer to get everything in the mail. Hopefully all goes according to plan and we can upgrade to dvc ap :)
Looking forward to using our new points later this year.

Thanks NJmouse, I'll have to remember that for next time!

It's confusing because the MDE website seemed to be telling me to use the number below the bar code on the back of the card. But then I have to remember I had a voucher, not an actual ticket.

Yup! NJMouse you helped me immensely. I was also trying to enter the codes on the vouchers and it kept telling me the passes were assigned already to someone else. Using the confirmation number from the email it popped right up and asked me to pick someone in my family group to assign it to. Thank you!

So if I purchase our DVC AP's we can not have magicbands until we activate them at the first park? We really want magicbands

If you have a Disney Resort Reservation, you will be able to customize & receive MagicBands prior to arrival.
If you purchase a new AP, you will not be able to customize & receive MagicBands until after they have been activated.

MagicBands are mailed to US addresses only.

There are many different MagicBands available for purchase at WDW. Prices start at $12.95 plus tax.

disneyhutson...if you want a AP band only, yes you have to wait to activate your pass, but like erionm said you can use your hotel reservation band or you can order one for $12.95

This is one of the silly things Disney does. They should be sending out MagicBands to all APs that are connected to an MDE name once that person has customized their band, not wait until the person is on-site and then mail them home. o_O On the other hand, there's a whole thread here that suggests folk book a fake room, get their customized MBs mailed home and then cancel that room, leaving them with extra MBs to use in the park. Disney could save a whole lot of money on mailings and sending out bogus bands by not mailing them out at all and simply handing out MagicBands on site (front desks, Guest Services etc.)

Because Disney is including an AP Discount Card in the AP MagicBand packaging, they have to wait until the AP has been activated and has an expiration date set.

They had that discount card to us at the window as we activate the APs. Now they're giving us doubles of something we can look up online? (I don't recall getting my discount card in with my MBs last time around, so that must be new)

The AP Discount Card has been in the packaging since they first started sending out AP MagicBands. The card is underneath the tray that holds the MagicBands. If you don't remove the tray, you won't see the Discount Cards.

I'll take your word for it. They probably were there, that was too long ago, and my brain is full ;)

I received a phone call today about AP magic bands not being available at the time of purchasing. ( sent Disney an email about this) The cast member said she will be contacting Magic Fast pass people about my concerns. She agrees with me about that it is odd not having the band available to AP members before going to WDW and activating the pass.
