Breeding an aquarium fish may sound easy but in reality, it's not. It needs ample attention and care or else you might waste money and time and sometimes fish.

Breeding a betta fish

One of the hardest ones to breed among the aquarium pets. One needs to be careful while doing it. One mistake and you might end up with dead fish or sick fries.
There are a few things that are a must know before you start breeding.
1. Setup permanent betta tanks

You need to set up each of the bettas as a permanent tank. Two bettas can never coexist in one tank unless it's vast than a simple aquarium.

2. Set Up a breeding tank

This is where most people make mistakes. They try to add females or males to one of the permanent homes of bettas for mating. That is a big NO. The fries that come after the mating needs pristine water and no disturbances and also the male betta has to be removed from the tank once the fries starts swimming or else the male will see them as a threat. So the perfect way is to set up a separate breeding tank with at least a 10-gallon water can fill.

3. Almond leaves

This can be called the catalyst for breeding or the magic leaf to make the water and its ph level good for breeding. The male betta may sometimes put the air bubbles onto the side of the almond leaves too. The release from almond leaf increases the mating potential in bettas.

4. Set Up a good breeding condition

Fill the breeding tank with 3-5 inches of water because once the fries start swimming it will be difficult for them to reach the top to gather oxygen.
