I’ve been a passholder for 6 hours, so pardon the ignorance but I couldn’t find an answer on these boards and can’t get through to Disney.

My wife and I have annual passes but want to book a package with our kids. Is this possible or do we have to book room only + tickets?

If the later, I learned I can’t see AP discounts until my pass is active, but how prolific are discounts and do I have to call or is there a source to see current discounts. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the passholder family!

Everyone on the package has to have the same tickets. If you are all staying in the same room, it might be worth booking room only and getting the kids tickets through a third party, especially if you can get an AP discount.

You also have the option to save your package tickets to apply to your AP renewal next year. I know there are several posts about doing things like this in the recent AP posts. I do not have personal experience with this though, as I’ve been a passholder since 1986, and haven’t bought packages with tickets.

If you aren’t staying in the same room, you could let the kids book a package and you book room only (hopefully with AP discount) and then ask Disney to link the reservations to try and get rooms together.

So far as I am aware there are only three ways to see AP discount availability: looking it up online, calling WDW, or by having a friend with an AP look for you. If you cannot look at AP rates yourself online, then you will have to call Disney or contact someone with an AP. There isn’t any guaranteed AP discount. It can be different percentages at different times, and sometimes all hotels are included, and sometimes they really target the resorts who have low occupancy. Did they mention linking your AP voucher to your MDE account when you bought it?

Thanks for all the info. Very much appreciated. I have the voucher in my account under my memberships. Sounds like calling may be the best option and doing a room only. Kind of a bummer because I like the $200 deposit for packages.

I understand. You only pay for one night up front on room only, but depending on where you stay, that one night can be substantial.

You can book a "basic" package - it's a room-only reservation under package terms and conditions. You will need to call in to book (or have your TA do it).
