We intend to book a couple of meals for the two of us, using DDP. This means that our son will still need to eat. Does anyone know how to book a table for him to eat and the two of us to watch him lovingly as he tucks into his food?!

I'm a bit confused. Are you asking to book a TS meal for just your son? Can he not eat at the same time you eat? Seems like it would be wasting a lot of time to do two separate meals when you could all eat at one meal. Maybe I'm reading it wrong???

Thank you for the really swift reply and sorry for the confusion. We want a nice romantic meal without child, taking advantage of the babysitting. I dont want our, to be, 4 year old to go without a table meal.

I'm with the PP. Not sure I understand. I'm assuming when you say:

That you are just talking about you and your spouse? Why wouldn't your son be there or where would he be? They have Dining Plans for kids also. All restaurants can accomodate to what he what he would want. Check out the menus on this website or allears.net and you can see what they offer for kids options.

There shouldn't be a reason for you and spouse to eat and your son not.

Sounds silly to me. :confused3

Maybe re-word the question or clarify a little bit.

Get him a meal at the restaurant that you are eating at and get it to go and take back to him. No need to make an ADR just to watch him eat.

I THINK I understand your question.... if your son will be in one of the Kids Clubs while you are out to dinner, they will feed him there (no need to use a TS Credit for him). If your son is older than 10 & goes to the kids club twice during meal times, you would save 2 TS Credits (because he wouldn't need to use them) and then maybe you and DH could upgrade one of your meals to a "Signature" restaurant (since you would then be able to use the remaining 2 TS Credits)? This is all assuming your son is older than 10. If younger, his dining credits would apply to the Kids Menu only and will not do you any good. IF, however, you plan on bringing him to a TS Restaurant where he will sit with you, but only he will eat, make a reservation for 3 people (you will still need to sit). If you don't order anything, your dining plan will not be charged for you. Just make sure it is not a buffet or dinner show (otherwise you will be charged).

I'm also a little confused by what you want to do, but this is my read:
1. Keep you child company while he eats dinner
2. Drop him off at babysitting
3. Go have a romantic dinner

So, regardless of whether you are eating or not, you'll still need to make your early dinner ADRs for three people (you, your spouse, and your child) because each of you will take up a seat at the TS location. If you and your spouse don't order anything, then you won't be charged. The ADR isn't for the number of people eating, it's the number of people that want to enter the restaurant. That's why people with newborn babies (who won't be ordering from the menu) still have to count the baby when they're making their ADRs.

So, the ADR with the son, will be for three, and the ADR for the romantic dinner will be for two (assuming your son is in child care).

The only problem is the restaurant may or may not do this. I know a couple of years ago, I got overheated and didn't feel like keeping our Yachtsman ADR. I sent my husband and mom on ahead. After taking a cool bath and resting, I got to feeling better so called my husband to bring something back for me. We were shocked when he was told that he could order certain appetizers and side dishes to go, but could not get me one of their entrees. They said they did not prepare the entrees to go.:confused3

Slightly different but, I was also at California Grill once and wanted to order some sushi to keep in the fridge to snack on (I work night shift and am used to eating dinner at 2:00am, so even on vacation I frequently want a 2:00am snack:rolleyes1). Anyway, they said they could not prepare the sushi to go and that I'd have to order it to eat there. I said fine, please give me Kazan roll and a to go box then. That they were willing to do.:confused3

1. The Kids Club at Disney will feed the kids a kids meal as long as the child is at the Kids Club between the hours of 6 - 8 pm. There are usually about 4 choices (think chicken nuggets and mac n cheese type of food). The cost is the same per hour regardless of whether the child eats dinner or not. Personally, we always let the kids club feed our kids. It frees up our time and does not cost additional.

2. If you are using a private babysitter, he/she can take the child to eat as long as you give permission (e.g., whether they can leave the room, the hotel, etc.).

3. In terms of you feeding the kid before your date night, yes, you can do that too. I would look for a location near the Kids Club. However, I would recommend going to a counter-service restaurant. I would not recommend making an ADR and taking the child to eat dinner at a table-service restaurant. In general, the table-service restaurants take a longer time, and it may be strange to sit there and watching your child eating, without you yourself eating, KWIM? Also, many Disney restaurants are fixed price meals (buffets, family style, etc.) and you would be charged regardless of whether you eat or not, so if you go this route, you may want to book a regular table restaurant that is not a fixed price.
